Audio Technica Audio Players & Recorders - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
Microphone
It really depends on where you will be using the microphone and and whether it is just going to be used for fun at home or in a club oor for recording?
Some golden rules for microphone selection.
1) Make sure the microphone is Uni-Directional. This means it will only pick up sound from the direction it points in. You are less likely to get feedback or background intereference.
2) For a vocalist, make sure the mic is a reasonable size. If it is too small and you need to hold it, after a while it becomes fiddly and uncomfortable.
3) When singing always use a foam hood or pop filter with the microphone. This will reduce explosive sounds on the letter "P" etc.
4) Choose a microphone with a wide frequency response but not too much bass which can make vocals sound boomy.
5) Finally, the microphone must have a reasonable dynamic range so that if you suddenly shout it does not distort excessively, but it will also work when you speak or sing softly.
Belt is off my audio-technica turntable at-pl50
WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST! Any oils on the drive belt may cause slippage.
This is from the manual:
A) Remove the record mat from the turntable platter
(Fig. 10a). Through an opening in the
turntable platter, visually inspect to see if the drive belt
is around the motor pulley (Fig. 10b).
B) If the drive belt is not around the motor pulley: Lift
and remove the turntable. Place a thumb into each of
the left and right openings on the turntable platter; and,
using the fingers to press down on the turntable housing’s
surface, pull the platter straight up (Fig. 10c).
Avoid pressing on the tone arm.
C) With the turntable platter bottom side up, place the
belt along the outside wall of the turntable platter's
drive rim, making certain that the belt is smooth and
flat all the way around (Fig. 10d).
D) Put the turntable back on the center spindle, make
certain it is fully seated, and align one of its openings
over the motor pulley position.
E) Through the opening, carefully hook the turntable
belt with a finger or with the original red ribbon (never
use a sharp object) and pull the belt over the motor
pulley (Fig. 10e). Make certain the belt is not twisted
between the pulley and the platter’s drive rim.
F) Put the record mat back on the platter.
G) While holding the tone arm in its rest position,
slowly turn the platter by hand clockwise at least 10
rotations to clear the mechanism’s automatic cycle.
How to disassemble audio technica pro 45
For anyone googling this, to take apart the audio technica pro 45 just peel off the sticker on the bottom to remove the three hidden screws. Everything then just slides out the bottom.
The stop button on my record player doesn't stop
hey there Jack, I have the exact same turntable and had the exact same problem. It's a pretty simple fix.The control arm for the stop button, more then likely, got pushed a bit too far back. Now bare with me, because I don't know the names of the mechanisms, but I'll try to make it sound simple. First you're going to take off plate and belt, because you're going to be taking off the bottom cover of your turntable. If you don't remove the plate & belt, when you flip over the turntable, it's all going to fall and you could damage your belt.Next your going to flip over the turntable and remove the screws that are holding on the bottom cover on. I think there are 5 of them. Now that the cover is off, look at where the play and stop buttons are. Follow the thin metal arms that are connected to them. They should end at a white plastic piece (sorry, I don't know the name of it). Now check if the stop arm is hooked behind it or if it's pressed against the front of it. The stop arm should be RESTING ON THE FRONT of the white plastic piece. If it's hooked behind the plastic piece, carefully pull it out and then place it against the front of the white plastic piece and you should be good to go.
Very low audio output
Make sure your receiver has a PHONO input. If you are connecting it to a LINE or AUX input, then there is not enough signal to boost the sound coming from the turntable. Turntables require a PHONO input, because phono input's have a pre-amp on them, which boost the turntable signal. If you do not have a PHONO input on your receiver, you will need to buy a
Phono Pre-Amp.
If you have a phono input, then you might have an issue with the turntable's RCA cables, or your cartridge may be at fault.

TWEAK AV LAV
Anti skate
On the early (pre 2017) versions, the anti-skate spring was too weak. To overcome this issue, you either need to cut off about a third of the existing spring or replace it with the new stronger one. Audio-Technica can supply this directly but they will charge you for it.
I have problem with channel on Audio Technica
