Rip DVD to MP4 for iPad via HandBrake
In fact, ripping a movie to MP4 for iPad can seem complicated, but it's actually pretty simple with Handbrake. Handbrake is easy to use, and it's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, and it will convert your file into compatible formats for any device, like an iPad or Android phone. Follow along with these instructions.
1. Head to Handbrake's homepage and download the latest version of this program. Install it to your computer as directed.
2. By default, Handbrake can only help rip unprotected DVDs, but most DVDs you buy from the store or online have copy protection. Therefore, to get around this, you will have to install libdvdcss.
3. After you have download and install libdvdcss successfully, then you can insert the DVD you want to rip, and open Handbrake
4. Click the Source button in the upper left-hand corner and find your DVD drive from the list. In general, the program will take a few minutes to start scanning your DVD. Wait patiently.
5. When it's done, head to the "Title" drop-down menu in the upper left-hand corner of the window, which is the place you will select which part of the DVD you want to get.
6. Now you can click the Browse button on the right side of the window. Then you will get a directory for you to save your movie file, and type in a file name in the box. Click OK.
7. On the right labeled "Presets", you will get the chance to choose what format the resulting file will be in. If you just want to watch it on your iPad, the "High Profile" preset is better.
8. After all the settings are completed, you can hit the Start button at the top of the window.
When it's done, you can double-click on your movie file to watch it, or sync it to your device of choice. Enjoy your time on iPad!
