There's a "menu" button somewhere on the monitor, and you might look for a different "power save" or "sleep" setting to change its behavior.

Is there a floppy disk in the A: drive? That "port" is usually reserved for a floppy disk, either 3.5 or 5.25in. You probably need to disable the floppy drive in the BIOS.

Yes, resolution settings can be a pain, but the good news is you know how and where to change the settings. After years of dealing with this same problem I pay no attention to what Windows recommend, but instead try many different settings each time I do a new Windows install. (best is mobo with no AGP slots at all, and one x16 PCI-slot. if you have a plug in VGA card remove it and connect the monitor to the computer plug in if the monitor is good , replace the vga card next make sure that all files, folders and data is backed up on an external hard drive on start up , when you get the desk top screen up in the search bar under the list of programs , type in-- chkdsk and click on it when it comes up just above where you typed in that will energize the self check of the computer , hard drive files and folders and everything on the hard drive be prepared for it to take around 6 hours for the check as it checks and repairs any faults found for every file and folder and there could be over 3 million spaces to check you will get a report and if there is a hard drive problem , you will get such a message
