Try using a 6v power supply, sounds like you are not getting enough power. The nwer models are 6v now and I believe the 5v was always under powered.

Give StereoNet a try as they have a classified section and sell lots of 2nd hand HiFi gear.

Have you tried isolating the problem, like switching cables from the left side that is not making noise? Also check connections, I say this all the time and use all the time.... electronics spray contact cleaner, usually takes care of crackling noises really hope this helps?

Can you hear the disk spinning? If not, the motor may need replacement.If it is spinning- is it on Pause? If it is spinning and not on pause, the laser my be burned out, or the flat ribbon connector may be dislodged.

I assume you know that you MUST use special Karaoke disks to have lyrics displayed... Ordinary music CD's do not have that data on them.

If the unit is still within warranty, then it should be returned for repair by the manufacturer. If not, and you are handy with a screwdriver, then you may be able to fix it yourself.

Although I am not familiar with this precise model, in my experience most units of this type are based on standard optical drives, just like in a PC. If you remove the front panel of the unit, you should be able to find the emergency release hole: a small hole just wide enough to push a straightened paper clip into, which should release the drawer.

to do that you'd actually have to disassemble the unit. ( start by removeing scews on the bottom ) and dropping out the pc boards that hold the jack or are in the way of the pcb with the jack on it. at which you'd just have to un-solder old jack and install replacement and reassemble and your done. you cann call american audio to find distributers of their parts.
