If it is a FIRE then it may have an app like MAIL running in the back ground. Turn off all apps. It's a tablet, it will only last a few hours.
The eReaders last for weeks, the Tablets last for hours.
If it's an eReader then on the home page search for jfhjfhj - if it says 4 books not indexed then you have 4 books corrupted, go DOWN and delete those 4 books from the kindle and redownload them.
My kindle is frozen. I cannot reach my home page.
Make sure that the kindle is fully charged. Plug your kindle into the wall charger, a yellow light will light up. When the yellow light turns green, your kindle is fully charged. Then try turning on your device. If the device still does not turn on, hold the power switch for 15 seconds, this will reboot the device.

I want to buy a new kindle but am concerned about transfering my books to the new kindle.
Two methods.
First: A computer is required. Connect the old Kindle to the computer it should show up as a new drive. Open that drive and find the books. Transfer them to the computer. Plug in new Kindle and do the same only transfer the transferred books from the computer onto the new Kindle.
Two: If you purchased the books from sources like Amazon, your books are saved on their cloud. Simply connect your new device and download all your books again.
How do I transfer a book from my computer to my Kindle?
The best thing is to contact Kindle customer service. Use your computer and sign in to your amazon account. Click the arrow next to your account..at top of page to right of search box. Select your account from the list. look down the page in same column for Kindle Help. Click kindle help home. On next page to the left look for the box that says contact us. Click that and follow instructions. Give a brief explaination and ask them to call you back. They usually as for a time so you can be ready to work at their direction.

amber to green.

My Kindle reboots upon start up and frequently
Is your kindle in an unlighted cover? Amazon Kindle support suggested to me that this exact problem may be caused by interference with the metal clips that hold the kindle cover on.
After taking it out of the cover, it works just fine!
This does not happen with the lighted cover apparently.
They also suggested NOT turning it off when finished reading. Hit the home key and walk away. After about 10 minutes, it will power down to sleep mode on its own.
Hopevthis helps.
