Nd indicates a drain Pump problem. Maybe just a clogged filter, or if no obstructions found, replace pump. Also, too many suds can cause this problem.

Hi Ben I see you have posted on this before , I think you may have done this already judging from your post , but have you checked the filter on the drain pump? also when you run a cycle empty, is it filling and draining the water correctly , or is there water left in the machine , and last is the drain hose high enough to make sure that there is not a "syphoning" effect taking place as in when it fills with water it drains at the same time , just a thought let me know.

hi, sounds like the couplers going, if its a traditional top loader, the coupler is in between the motor and the transmission and are meant to shear off to protect the machine from damage, overloading. they dont last forever. once you get the motor off the part is right there.. if its a front loader check the belt teeth. jm

Most likely door lock problem or shift actuator is bad. Both fairly inexpensive and simple to replace.

Tying things in knots is a characteristic of older washing machines that didn't have an oscillating action. It was soon realised to avoid that the washer should oscillate or reverse the action by equal amounts and so that is what the automatic washer is designed to do. Perhaps there is something wrong with the controller or the motor and it isn't reversing properly. The only reset is to unplug the machine from power for about 5 min's and if that fails you may need to replace the washer timer control board.
