Amana Cooktops - Popular Questions, Answers, Tips & Manuals
What does 5AB mean on clock?
Your display is actually reading "SAB". This is an indication of a mode of operation rather than an error code. The following link explains:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608491-sabb_or_sab_explanation_kitchen_ranges
Sabbath Mode is a feature that allows the consumer to disable certain features of the range in order to honor the sabbath. Usually this disables the oven, but allows the consumer to still use the surface burners. You cannot defeat it by unplugging the range or turning off the breaker either. You will either have to wait 72 hours for the mode to clear, or figure out how to turn it off.
Somewhere in the owner/operator's manual is a section that refers to "Sabbath Mode". Since all ranges differ in features and operator, you need to refer to the operation section of your owner's manual to find out how to shut the feature off.
If the model number you listed this question under is correct, you need to press and hold the CLOCK button for 3 seconds to clear the Sabbath Mode. "Sab" will flash for about 5 seconds, then return to normal display.
I've done this 2 times already
Hi Sally, let me try to help you. The category I am seeing is Amana 30" self-cleaning range. You are having clock setting issues. I need to know the model number to be able to research the issue and get back to you. Please add the model number with a comment on this question. Don't enter a new one as this will confuse others. I will get back to you as quick as I can with either an answer or to let you know what I can or can't find out on the issue.
AGR5844VDW oven not lighting
Most modern ovens have a glow bar ignitor, not a spark ignitor. It will glow a bright orange and then the oven valve will click open and allow gas through and the burner lights. Many gas ovens have a small shutoff handle located on the silver appliance regulator, which is located either behind the stove or at the bottom behind the oven drawer. Make sure it has not been accidentally closed. It will cut off gas to the oven only.
Amana Stove just stopped working
Could be the fuse in the back turn off the power and trace the wiring with a multimeter, when you stop getting continuity there is the fuse.
Good luck Ray
Where is the fuse in a sr4002?
Generally behind the back panel, some models use a fusible link rather than a glass/wire fuse, un less you know what it looks like you will need a multimeter to check for continuity till you locate it.
Oven wont turn on but top burners work
You will only need the make and model of the cooktop to order the ignitor. Open the bottom drawer below the oven to find the data plate with model & serial #'s on the front of the oven.
No burners work
Do you have power? Check to make sure the power cord is plugged in. Check for a reset button where it's plugged in to the wall. (It may be tripped). Check your breaker box for a tripped switch.
Propane oven won't light
Can you post more details like: Does the oven ignitor come on (glow orange)? Can you hear the oven gas valve click open and/or smell gas? Do all the stovetop burners work fine? Have you checked your propane tank to be sure you are not out of gas?
