Amana dishwasher won't drain
look for the float.
it will be in the bottom somewhere. This is how your dishwasher knows it has water in it.
your float might be cracked or full of water (then it needs to be replaced. if you just want to drain the dishwasher in the short term, you can always prop up the float (but this will prevent the dishwasher from filling up again, because it will think it is still full...)
Or sometimes it is an open bottom or air-trap type of float and it might just be filled up with grease and stuff.
Reach underneath with your finger (YUCK!) if you can, and scoop out the grease. Then it should work just fine.
Top rack doesn't clean properly.
There is a dediczted spinner which accepts water from the top of the machine, carries it through a tube on the top tray and loads it into a spinner for the top tray.
The Whirlpool dishwashers have the inner tubes for water that coincide with the design of the dishwasher, but do little for anything in the top tray if your water pressure isn't sufficient. Look under your sink at the taps and increase the pressure if the valve has moved or has never been fully opened. Gravity prevents the water for jetting up to the top tray and instead remains stuck at the bottom.
My dishwasher isn't cleaning my top tray
# Oily or heavily soiled dishes should be rinsed to remove any excess. If dishes have hard, dried on food (such as pasta or rice) then there may remain some particles of food. The unit does have a food grinder built in to break up food so that it can drain.
# Make sure you have enough space between your dishes for the water and the detergent. Placing to many dishes together will cause improper cleaning. It can also block the sprayer arms that clean the dish during cleaning cycle.
# Too much detergent will leave film on dishes. Not enough will prevent proper cleaning. Too much rinse aid can cause foam, which appears on the bottom of the tub and on dishes. Not enough can leave spots and streaks. Use only the amounts recommended in OM according to load type and cycle.
# If the dispenser does not open during the cycle, the dishes will not be properly cleaned during the cycle. Make certain that nothing on the top rack is pressing against the dispenser tray door, preventing it from opening. If the top rack is in lowest position, it will block the dispenser door. Also, check if it is damaged
# Dried on foods may not wash off dishes as well. Rinse dishes off prior to loading, especially if a wash cycle is not going to be run immediately. Also, be sure not to put detergent in the dispenser more than an hour prior to beginning the cycle.
# Make certain the spray arms are attached properly and turning freely. The water pressure generated by the motor turns them, so if they are not attached proper they will not turn and wash. Also, make certain that no dishes or utensils are In the path of a spray arm (blocking it from turning).

Water in tub bottom
You might put that disconnected hose into a bucket at the end of a cycle and observe the flow strength or quantity; you may have a pump whose internal seals or blades are worn and not pumping with enough speed to finish before the timer shuts it off.
I have water leaking from bottom of dishwasher
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. If you have nuisance water leaks around the base of your
dishwasher, you may be using a detergent that is causing too much suds. Cut
back on the amount of detergent you use, and see if that makes a difference.
Water
that spills through the door vent is usually caused by improperly loading
dishes. Leaks from the door itself may be caused by a faulty door gasket or
door tightness adjustment. You should check the main tub seal, the door latch,
the door gasket, the water-inlet valve, and the fill and drain hoses.
Also make sure the dishwasher is sitting level (you can adjust the front feet
up or down, and many units have some type of levelers at the rear).
Water under the dishwasher may be originating from a leaky hose or loose hose
connection. Remove the lower front panel, and check the hoses. The pump seal
may be defective, too; replacing this is a job for an appliance repairperson.
An older dishwasher may corrode at the bottom, but this is fairly uncommon. If
this is the case with your dishwasher, it's time for a new one.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or
else revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee
I don't think the upper arm is rotating and I was
The upper arm is driven by water pressure so if its not rotating it's generally because

CHECH YOUR DRAIN HOSE. IT SHOULD HAVE A HIGH POINT SO THE DRAIN CAN DORK PROPERLY. THE HOSE COULD BE TOO LOW UNDER THE SINK AND DRAINING BACK INTO YOUR DISH WASHER. OR YOUR GARBAGE DISPOSAL HOLE CAN BE CLOGGED
Dishwasher arms not turning
Are you sure you are getting water into the machine? There may be something stuck in the impeller, you could check this out. Here is a breakdown for you to look at. Hope it helps.
My amana dishwasher is not issuing any water
HI. this is a water inlet valve issue. i recommend testing this device. it may be faulty.
To access the inlet valve remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to reach the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel. The water inlet valve can be identified by the water hoses connected to it. One hose will lead from the valve to the pump/motor assembly in the center of the dishwasher. Check that the hoses are securely connected to the valve and that there are no kinks in the hoses which could restrict water flow. There are two wires (four, if it has two solenoids) connected to the water inlet valve. Label the wires and connections so that you can properly reconnect them later. The wires are connected with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire itself). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced. Use a continuity tester or multimeter to test for continuity. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. A reading of infinity indicates a bad solenoid that must be replaced. Different brands and models will have various measurements, but the valve should show some resistance if it is functioning properly. If your valve has two solenoids, test the second one in the same way as the first. If the solenoid is working properly, but water leaks through the valve even when the dishwasher is off, then the valve itself is the problem. Debris may be preventing the valve from closing. If the valve cannot be cleaned, it will have to be replaced. The valve can also fail mechanically. So even if it passes the electrical test, it may still require replacement. If you have ruled out all other possibilities, go ahead and replace the valve.
**(((If the inlet proves to be functional with no leakage, this will lead to the control. its has failed in this case. replace it asap)))

Lower arm does not spin, but water sprays from
Something is jamed around the pivot point of spray arm, force it just a tad, not to break anything more than what might be jamming it. You might have to take it apart to remove the cause.
Is there enough water pressure to spin the arm ?The arm should spin freely.
Noise in washer when running
usually this indicates the drum bearing needs to be replaced. The sound it makes depends on the age and the make but you'll know one way or another as it is rumblig sound.

Bottom sray spinner doesn't spin. Computer and
Make sure that the spray bar when lifted by the water pressure is NOT hitting the dish rack OR has excessive friction. Test by manually lifting and turning.
Also the jets must exit at an angle to provide the torque.
This thing is insanely loud
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Dishwasher (and driving you crazy). Unfortunately, you are another victim of a common failure on some dishwashers.
You are right about this is not a normal sound.
The noise is due to vibration of the spray arm tube ( the top one or the middle one, it depends of the model on your dishwasher) during the operation. As the spray arm tube is not correctly fixed, it vibrates and makes the sound. The "easy" solution is to determine where is the little clip that is suppose to keep that tight. If there is no clip or it is broken you can use a tie (zip tie works great) to keep it fixed. Check for the spray arm to see if it is loose or wobbling. (it should not be completely fixed).
Don't use rubber band to fix the tube as the hot water can make a mess in the dishwasher.
Hope this helps, good luck!
