If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is to add some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1/4 of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

My Amana sofsound dishwasher is not draining

Hello,

When you open the washing machine lid and discover it full of water, it means it didn't drain before the spin cycle.

You may be confronted with a tub full of sopping wet clothes at an inconvenient time, but don't panic and call a repairman.

Chances are the trouble is with the drain hose or the pump and you can fix it yourself with just a few simple tools.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging INSTRUCTION BELOW.

  1. 1 Look at the drain hose to make sure it isn't kinked or clogged. If there is a piece of clothing lodged in there, clear away the hose from the pump and yank the clothing out.
  2. 2 Take a look at the switch under the lid of the washing machine. If it doesn't click when you press it, it may be broken and the washer may stop during the drain cycle. Call a repairman to repair or replace the switch.
  3. 3 Examine the clothes tub and the outer tub of the washer for anything that may be stuck in there.
  4. 4 Open the main access panel of the washer and take out the large rubber hose connecting the pump to the lower part of the outer tub.
  5. 5 Check to see if there is a piece of clothing stuck in there. If so, use a pair of needle-nose pliers to grab the clothing and pull it through the port. If it is difficult to reach, you will need to take out the agitator, the top part of the outer cylinder, and the interior tub to grab it. Unless you have special skills and tools, you may want to call a repairman.
  6. 6 Inspect the pump for a clog or frozen pulley. To check if the pulley is broken or frozen, take the pump out and attempt to turn it manually with your hands. If it's stiff or appears frozen, install a new pump.

Thanks for visiting .

Cycle light comes on but

Hi

When the start button won't start then the issue is with either the control or the door latch which is located inside the control area. You'll have to take it apart and then check these two parts and the part that is bad should be replaced. Most probably it is the electronic control that is bad however, if these two parts are fine then check the motor. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

A common problem is if the drain hose is connected to a new garbage grinder, they have failed to punch out the plug on the grinder where the hose attaches.

Won't drain

Look for the float.

It will be in the bottom somewhere. This is how your dishwasher knows it has water in it.
your float might be cracked or full of water (then it needs to be replaced. if you just want to drain the dishwasher in the short term, you can always prop up the float (but this will prevent the dishwasher from filling up again, because it will think it is still full...)

Or

sometimes it is an open bottom or air-trap type of float and it might just be filled up with grease and stuff.

Reach underneath with your finger (YUCK!) if you can, and scoop out the grease. Then it should work just fine.

I also own a ADB1500AWB. The switch membrane failed within 30 days of purchase. It was replaced under warranty. The technician said this part fails very often. I bought an extended warranty.
It failed again on 9/3. As of 10/13, the part is still on back order.

In any case, buy the longest extended warranty possible. Good luck.

Hi- I don't think there is on this one. Check to see if you have power to it. If you have GFCI plugs in your kitchen make sure none of them have tripped. It could be a problem with do door switch or controller (or rat chewed wire under DW) If you have power to it and it still won't run then best to call a Tech out.

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

My Dishwasher starts as usual,,,fills with water

Check the user guide manual. If resetting procedure is shown, follow it.
Otherwise the problem is with micro controller board. You have to contact the service provider as this is a computer program related fault.

If mechanical timer is used you can try cleaning them. But I doubt as the mechanical timers are no longer in use for the past few years.

Hope your incoming mains voltage is as per the recommendations!
110 V or 220 V as per your country standards.

Some times voltage fluctuations causes this problem. Should not be less than 10 % in any standard.

My dishes are not getting clean, especially the

The problem in the top drawer could be due to a few reasons.

Have you cleaned the wash arm and does it sit in alignment with the hole from which the water comes in.

Try to increase the quantity of detergent and rinse aid to see if there is any difference to the cleaning of the glasses.

You can check if water is getting to the top rack by leaving a container in it to measure the quantity of water at end of wash cycle. The gritty substance is usually the sand in the detergent. It is left behind because there may not be adequate water reaching the top rack.

Once in a few months you should use a Finish Dishwasher cleaning kit and run the empty dishwasher with it according to the instructions on the kit.

Hope this will help solve the problem.

Hi

This may have happened due to control panel malfunctioning or due to loose wiring/connections on the control panel. Before disassembling to check the control panel, try unplugging the dishwasher for 30-40 minutes. Check if the lights are still blinking, if yes then you would need to check for continuity of wires on control board. Also inspect the component connections on the contro board. Use a multimeter to check the components and wiring. Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

Try switching the power to the machine off, or un-plug it.

If this doesn't work, lean gently against the machine door (the latch may be too tight and the spring can't pull it open).

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If it won’t stop and keeps on running then the first thing that should be checked is the Timer and then the heating element. Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
