There is a small rectangular vent at the top
I agree. Sometimes is only a matter of cleaning it well and reassembling it. Of course, you may find missing or broken pieces while doing this. Look for a way to take it more apart (without breaking it). Have you pulled the unit out of cabinet yet? The access you want might be under the insulation.
Impeller loose on pump motor shaft
The bore in the impeller is spun out. Mix some JB Weld and apply a liberal amount to the bore of the impeller, install it back on the motor shaft and rotate the shaft a 1/2 turn to distribute the weld before cure. Originally the impeller was a press fit. Don't allow food to get sucked into the pump, lock down and damage to the impeller will occur

New problem or old problem? Has it ever worked? First check the main control component and make sure all wires are plugged in.
Amana DW adb1100aww New install won't start
have you checked to see if the white and black (or hot) wires are reversed.
It is very common to have this problem.
some plug wires have a smooth edge and a rippled side, one wire per side and the ground wire is green or in the middle.
if there is a side that has a rippled edge make sure that it is on the black wire of the dishwasher and the white to the smooth side.
I remember this in this way: if i hook the power side to an oscilloscope it would show a wave pattern and if I do the same with the common or white wire then it is smooth a straight line
Blades don't spin
It is very likely the wash arms are clogged or the wash motor is not working. Need to open the sump and check for blockages.
Please provide complete model number to help provide location of parts involved.
