How to open the slave speaker on a bx1221

I was able to sucessfully open my BX1221 speakers by prying off the front cap, then prying off the silver support. They are locked in with a plastic snap, and sealed with a little bit of stretchy glue. The plastic snaps are top, bottom, left and right; 4 of them at 90° to each other. The black cap can stay on if you are just repairing the wires or cleaning the box; if you want to clean the mesh, the black cap will need to come off. The box itself is a little bit flexible (quite stiff, but can bend a tiny bit), which may be helpful in preventing the breakage of the plastic tabs that hold things in place. There is quite a bit of wire inside the box, around 7" total, so if you need to splice the wire inside, it's not a hard thing to do. Seal up the wire afterwards with some hotglue or other adhesive and you will be good to go. 20240408_194602-uipagru44s3onjfv3fam3q10-d-0.jpg

How to open and repair a short circuit inside the

Probably, you'll need a Philips ("cross-head") screwdriver, to unscrew the front from the back of the speaker.

Or, it may be a "press-fit" (just try to "pull" the front from the back).

Or, it may be just glue holding the front to the back.
Slice through the glue, to "wedge" apart the two pieces.

Once open, probably, some solder, a wire-stripping tool, and a soldering-iron will be needed.

Altec Lansing MX6021 Expressionist ULTRA 2.1

The "pluc pluc pluc" noise you're hearing from your Altec Lansing MX6021 Expressionist ULTRA 2.1 speakers could be a sign of a few different issues. Here are a few things you can try:
  1. Check the cables: Make sure all cables are connected properly and there are no loose connections. Try using a different cable to see if that solves the problem.
  2. Check the power supply: Ensure that the power supply is plugged in and working properly. Try using a different power outlet or power supply to see if that solves the problem.
  3. Check the volume: Make sure that the volume on your device is turned up and the speakers are not on mute.
  4. Try a different device: Connect the speakers to a different device to see if the issue is with your laptop or the speakers.
  5. Check for software updates: Visit the Altec Lansing website to see if there are any software updates or firmware updates available for your speakers.
If none of these solutions work, it may be time to consider contacting Altec Lansing customer support or a professional audio technician for further assistance.

My Altec IMW578N will play for a bit of time then it starts buzzing (no music), can it be fixed?

It's possible that there is a problem with the speaker itself that is causing it to produce a buzzing sound. Some common issues that can cause this type of problem include:
  1. A loose or damaged speaker cone, which can cause the speaker to vibrate excessively and produce a buzzing sound.
  2. A problem with the amplifier or other electronic components of the speaker system, which can cause the speaker to produce distorted or irregular sound.
  3. Physical damage to the speaker, such as a crack in the enclosure or a dent in the cone.
In order to fix the problem, you may need to have the speaker repaired by a professional or purchase a new speaker. It is also possible that the problem is not with the speaker itself, but with another component of your audio setup (such as the amplifier or the source device). In this case, you may need to troubleshoot and fix the problem with that component.

Sub woofers have small amplifiers , not transformers. The amplifier is removable and replaceable. The The overall size and the output wattage are the spec's you need . The output wattage is on the label which is attached somewhere on the speaker. You do NOT need to replace the amp with the Altec Lansing brand. Have you contacted Altec Lansing to purchase a replacement Amp? That's where I would start. If they cannot help you I would Google replacement amp sub-woofer, Altec Lansing model MX5021.

Altec Lansing VS4121 no sound

If removing and reinstalling the driver fixed your problem then there was nothing wrong with the speakes. There was probably a problem with your soundcard drivers.

That being said, you should double check that you speakers are plugged in to the right sound board connector and the power supply is plugged into the wall outlet.

Does you computer have a headphone jack? If it does, you might try plugging a headset into it to see if you can hear sound there. If you do then you'll know the soundboard is working properly and maybe the speakers really are part of the problem. CD/DVD drives usually have a headset jack, but this will only work if a cable was run inside the computer from the CD/DVD drive to either the soundboard or motherboard.

What kind of computer do you have? Do you know if you have on board sound or a seperate sound board?
