Cd drive in my acer aspire x1700 doesn't open

You are going to need a paper clip. Look fo a small hole next to the switch. straighten the paper clip and put it in the hole in the center. carefully push to activate the mechansium to open the door. Then you can troubleshoot the door. Turn off the computer then pull the power cord from it. Open the computer case find the power cable to the cdrom/dvdcdrw and push it in to make sure you have good connection. If it still doesn't work after this then you can get a new drive for less than $30.00 (usd)Hope this helps,Terry

Forgot my password

You'll have to take out the battery that powers the CPU inside the computer. This battery runs the memory and data processing and without it, it will reset all data stored to "nothing" including password.

How to reset battery on Acer aspire 5741 laptop

This is due to a BIOS error,Restart your computer. As it is powering up, you will see text along the bottom screen saying "Press Delete to enter BIOS." Depending on your operating system, it may ask you to press one of your function keys, such as F3 or F4. Either way, press the required key as the computer is booting.Do not make any other changes to your BIOS unless you are confident you know what you are doing because it could damage your laptop.
