You can watch TV on your laptop, but you need to purchase an USB TV tuner and plug it into the laptop's USB port plus install the TV tuner software.
There are several manufacturers that make these USB TV tuners, I suggest you do a Google search for these devices for the best deals.

Just put in the blank dvd without trying to burn anything to it and see
if your pc see's the blank dvd, if not find one that is recognized by your pc. After you put in a blank dvd, it should show under my computer in the drive and should be able to open it like a folder, or
windows will pop up a little window that ask's if you would like to burn anything to the dvd.

Can you give a location of R138?
Is it on the easy side? E.q. the side of the motherboard wich is accessible by removing the bottom plate? I see Q24, located close to CPU. If possible, post a picture of R138, with some components visible.

Hi I am Vortash sorry to say that power supply fault seems to be the most likely answer to this .. and to be honnest with laptops that was 50% of the problems I fixed .. they are also quite exspensive retail so I tend to search on Amazon or Ebay for them .
I have had this problem with a faulty hard drive also it was shorted out so the computer just shut down .. whatevetr it turns out to be this is one for a skilled engineer as replacing components on a 12 layer multiple circuit requires special soldering equipment and conditions and a fair amount of dexterity and skill good eyesight and the patience of a God lol . you could try another hard drive yourself that isn't to difficult if you can borrow or buy a cheap one .. and you can always get a caddy for it after and us it as a secondry drive on the usb if your own isn't faulty .. Start : Programs : Accesories : System tools : System restore.

yes it is. just make sure that you order the right one. the best way of doing so is to take off your current keyboard and on the back of it you will find the serial number. you need this because you might order the "fitting" keyboard but with different keyboard layout ()qwerty, azerty, russian, spanish, german... But if you go for the serial number, you will get the same one like you have now.

That laptop is very old. If this is running windows, and you have been running the latest windows updates like you should, then it really isn't powerful enough for today's stuff. You could find a fine re-manufactured laptop running windows for $250.

Bad connections.

Pen drive? A USB drive? Have you formatted the drive? Do you have Admin. rights? Remove the USB drive , reboot the computer, insert the usb device, does the computer ID the device and apply a driver? Do you get a popup? Does it show in Computer? What are you trying to copy to the drive?

If your using wireless, make sure your wireless adapter is on. Look on the F1, F2, F3, (etc.) keys. Find a little icon that looks like a cell tower. Press FN and that key and your wireless adapter will be activated and you should be able to connect to wifi. Other advice, make sure your LAN is active, too. I'm not specifically sure how to do this, it depends on the operating system, and I just plainly don't know. Anyway, if none of this works, go to Acer's website and download the Wireless LAN drivers. You can install them and restart the computer, it should work. Good Luck!
