Water flows out of garbage disposal vent when ever we use the dishwasher

Most likely the whole thing needs to be taken apart and cleaned, not just the disposal, but the plumbing as well. I have often had to do this for others. Very often the problem has been people put things in the disposal that plug up the plumbing, like eggshells, bananana peels, and other fruits & vegetables that readily plug the system. I have had to take such apart too many times to count. Oh, yes. If your dishwasher empties into the disposal ( that is normal) you may find your 2 choices are to repair or replace the disposal, or remove the disposal all together and hook the dishwasher drain directly to the plumbing. God bless your efforts.

Badger 5-81 motor buzzing, blades spinning, won't grind

Replace the whole thing. They are not that expensive and are easy to replace. The issue could be bad motor part or the shaft came loose from the grinding disk.

How do I unblock a kitchen sink that still won't drain after I poured a huge bottle of Draino Max and 2 medium size bottles of Ace Hardware drain cleaner over a period of 3 days and as soon as I poure

The fact that you ran a 15ft snake into the drain begs the question How long is the run from your sink to the main drain? Next is this run vertical , horizontal? does it go round any bends on its way ? and how does it terminate in the main drain? If you are not on the ground floor most sink drains terminate in a soil stack riser and these connections are prone to "furring up" as they are slightly smaller in diameter at the joint point. If however you can follow the sink waste pipe to an open gird or capped drain check the route for damage as a loose coupling can easily cause a blockage if it is weeping. Again without more info' can only guess but if you are in a shared block check with the neighbours to see if they are having similar problems as it may be that the central riser is blocked. HTH.

Nail fell into insinkerator, doesn't turn, jambed. can I get this out

Use the allen wrench that came with the disposer or get a new one that will fit in the center hole on the bottom of the disposer. Using that tool you turn it back and forth until the nail loosens enough to remove it.

Garbage disposal makes loud noise, nothing stuck, blades turn freely

Bearings in the motor are worn enough to allow the grinder plate to rub against the side of the chamber.

It has a leak in the bottom, is tere a gasket in that location

No, water should never be lower than the outlet pipe in the side. If the water isn't running down the side and is actually coming out of the bottom, then your unit has rusted through and needs to be replaced. I suggest a model with all stainless steel parts like waste king 2600 or better or one of the ISE evolution series. http://www.waste-king.com/wasteking/wastekingcomparison.html

Model 81

Roto rooter the drain pipe in the wall. It's plugged. The water goes up the vent pipe to the roof that's why the water comes back in the sink when you shut off the disposer.

How to wire a three way dimmer

Generally it depends on the way the circuit is constructed. How its wired depends on which of the three boxes the main power supply goes to first. 99% of the time if you connect the light to the common on one switch and the power to the common on the other switch, the red runner only between the 2 switches and the remaining wires one on each switch it should work.

Dishwasher not draining completely after new garbage disposal installed

If you hooked up the drain to the disposal directly there is no vent in the line. Use the air vent on the sink to connect the dishwasher drain hose. If there is no air vent, then you'll have to install one in the sink.

Garbage disposal clogged. how do i fix?

The whirring sounds like the motor is running under no load conditions. Whatever has it clogged apparently hasn't gotten down to the motor yet. I know you are trying to avoid removing it but you may have to to unclog it. Some types have a valve that is solenoid operated between the sink and the grinder motor. If yours is so equipped then it will have two wires right under where it comes out of the sink. If so then this solenoid could be malfunctioning and not letting the garbage get to the grinder. If not, I would suggest you remove it and check it to see what has it clogged. That's about all I know to tell you to try. Sounds like the unit is working it's not receiving the garbage. If I can be of any further assistance please feel free to contact me. Col. Dana Gillespie

I have a badger one. The wrench requires an extreme amount of force to rotate but won't turn easily. The blades however seemed to spin freely with no obstructions.

Try moving the wrentch back and forth, if that does not work you probably have a bad bering and need to replace the badger.
