shift out of park all of a sudden . Brake is depressed and i press on shifter knob and i can here the pass system clicking in the ignition but it will not come out of park unless i use the unlock slot

of the gear shift on my girlfriend's 1999 pontiac gtp has been knocked off and won't fit back on, how do I replace it? dap & die both the shifter and the knob and and thread it back on the shifter
