Canon Lens that stopped working few months ago. It just started to give error messages and i noticed that the image is dim when you look into it. Is there a DIY fix for this? Thank you very much thank

Canon lens (EF-S 17-85mm IS). The problem start occurring while on vacation in the South shooting in very humid air. Luckly I realised what is happening and just switched to manual for the time being.
