engine idle is fluctuating low and hi. What you have described is very commonly caused by a bad TPS, ( throttle position sensor ). I would have that checked first. I hope this helps you.

how to replace the tps If the 1.6 and 1.8 engines are the same configuration, the TPS should be mounted on the side of the throttle body with two screws.
