The life span of the radar depends on its use.
There are consumables inside, mainly the Magnetron and the scanner motor assembly, the life of which depend on running hours. The life of Display is high compared to these two.
The TR cell is located in the wave path before the receiver(detector/MIC)
Most Radars have a menu function for 'Test".

No data at >1 mile

Either a weak magnetron, water in wave guide or most likely radar settings are not right.
You have an 1834C, so a 4KW dome, right?
Radar antenna should be set to type "B" in Radar Set-Up menu
Access this menu by holding the Menu button during turn on and then choosing Installation Mode, allowing access to Installation Set Up Menu, where the Radar Set Up Menu is located. Be sure to do Optimize Radar, while you are in there.
Learn to use Sea Clutter and turn off AC Auto Tune.
Good Luck!

Do not get any images on the radar screen

depending on which radar it is, it may be the video coax inside the radar cable. Otherwise possibly your magnetron or mic. Try calling mid-shore electronics @ 410-228-7335 they may be able to assist you.

I am not picking up objects on my screen until I am right on them. Tried tilting the radar dome down foward to see if this would work to no avail. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

depending on the type of boat you currently have it mounted on, you may be out of range. Also your radar may need tuning and make sure your rain and seaclutter is not too high. Make sure the rain clutter is off. If the radar is mounted on a sailboat and you're having this problem, it's most likely the height unless it worked before in which case it could either be the display or the radar components. Magnetrons which run the radar also have a life.

Hi, I have a Radar Screen. Furuno 1942 MK2 . What Radar Dome can i plug this into. I have a Furuno 1720 Dome

A 1942 is a 6 kw radar a 1720 is either a 1.5 or 2.2 kw dome. The two will not work together. Besides the cabling is different. Also the radar cable on a 1942 is round where as the 1720 is square. The 1942 display should work fine on a 1943 navnet radar.

Furuno radar 1621 do not show targets

You may have a faulty magnetron or one that has gotten old. They do have a life. Find out how many hours you have on the unit and give furuno a call. They will more than likely tell you what they think the problem is.
