My right front burner has stopped working.

no solution - just wanted you to know that I have had this model since 2004 and had to replace this burner twice under warranty and twice after that. It broke again 2 years ago so I just cook without it now. Will be replacing the cooktop and am resolved not to buy Jenn-Air/Maytag/Whirlpool products again - convinced it is a element design problem.

Should I buy a two burner unit if available? Or a new cooktop?

Yes you can as long as there ae two heat controls for the grill side of the stove/cooktop. That allows one burner control for each of the burners. You should be able to order directly from GE but I would also check out repairclinic.com since they normally sell OEM GE parts cheaper than you can buy them from GE. At least check out the price at both sources beforw purchasing.

Poping sound, sparks shooting out and 220 circuit breaker out

Did you move the breaker fully off before turning it back on? make sure the offending burner is off.

It sounds as though the element shorted out.

Jenn-Air surface cooking elements look rusty and ugly

they make a special cleaner - polish just for the "solid" type burners. it looks like shoe polish and will make the burners look like new again. not sure where you can find it online but go to your local appliance parts houseand they will know what it is your needing.

One burner requires a match to light

had same problem. Used fine sandpaper on the little head (just above the white ceramic) that creates the spark. over the years the edges of the littel metal ring had gummed up but a 1 min sanding got it down to shinny metal and it sparked nicely.

Profile gas on glass cooktop

Hello mkerfoot, I know the feeling. The same complaint I hear about on SS. I just sink type dish washing detergent to clean the grease off and a paper towel with vinegar water solution. For heavy staining on the burner area, apply the dw detergent full strenght and let it sit to loosen the debre. Hope this helps.

Inop burner on new jenn-air JEC9530 elec flat cooktop

I'm having the same problem with my jec9530. The dual burner just quit working one day. I called jennair and they sent me a replacement "custom control" for free. 6 months later it quit again. I am now considering attempting to put an infinite switch (dual), part #PS786568 in its place. It is not electronic, and it looks like it is used for the jec9536 middle back dual burner. It is only $35, even if it doesn't work like the electronic one I don't care. My wife usually only uses both burners at the same time anyway.
