My dyson DC35 keeps cutting out and also I am not sure if it is charging as the green light doesn't come on which is situated on the plug. I have ha days it about 4yrs.

4 years for a battery powered Dyson is very good. Most only go half that or less. Do some honest research before you replace it. Call your local vac shop for expert advise.

Purchased the PURPLE hand held Dyson. see no number Had a Lightening strike and Dyson was plugged into wall outlet. press the starter, a green light comes on, but no sound or movement to start

I assume you tried a different outlet or checked the breaker.. if you don't have surge protection it may be fried.

I'm sorry to hear your DC31 Animal is only working intermittently. When fully charged, this machine should have a maximum runtime of 10 minutes, or 6 minutes on the maximum power setting.

There are several factors which could cause this, and to determine what's at fault we'd need to take you through some quick diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand. The machine would also need to be fully charged, so please make sure it's had 3.5 hours to recharge before calling us.

HOW TO REMOVE SOLEPLATE PLEASE TO CLEAN cleaner dyson dc07

On the underside of your Dyson, there are 3 coloured fasteners with slots in the heads which secure the sole plater. Turn each one 90 degrees with a coin or large flat-bladed screwdriver and then lift the edge of the sole plate where the fasteners were located. It can then be removed. If your Dyson is yellow/grey, the fasteners will be yellow. If it is purple/grey, the fasteners will be purple, etc.

If the machine cut out during use this will be the thermal cut out. This is caused by the motor becoming too hot during use, due to a blockage or a dirty filter. full details on how to resolve this can be found on our website at www.dyson.com. Simply click on Support and you will find all the info you need.

If the machine has cut out and wont switch on again after being left for a few hours, it sounds like an engineer will be required to inspect and repair the machine. You can contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

What size cable do i need to replace damaged cable

Mains flex, Twin Core, 6 Amp (0.75mm2).

Most electrical shops will sell it by the metre. They'll probably have it with a choice of grey/black/white/orange outer sheath. However, if your original cable was purple, and you really, really want it to remain purple, the only place I know to get this is from Dyson themselves.
Electrically, it doesnt matter what colour the outer sheath is !

How do I open the dirt cannister on a dyson animal (purple) so I can empty the dirt out?

This is fairly easy. Click on the button at the top of the hand above the cannister. It's a purple button and the handle faces the front and says Dyson on it. This separate the cannister from the body.

Next, hold the now full cannister above a trash can and click on the red button which was below the purple button (but hidden when it was attached).

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC04 Absolute. If the cleaner cut out during use, the thermal cutout switch may have shut the cleaner off because it was overheating. It would be a good idea to wash the filter, and to check the airways for blockages. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:
