It could be a serious error with the cartridge changer. Take a close look at the chagner for anything that looks bent or mis-aligned. Also, may sure all of the positioning sensors are clean.
To print white, you need to use the spot color option in the printer properties. The object to be printed must be all black. It seems counter to what you might think, but the spot color mode will print the solid black areas as the selected spot color.
Your ALPS MD-5000 MUST be set to print in DYE-SUB. mode.... Is there a Memory upgrade plugged into the slot next to the Printer Port? If not, then it's not an option......
these printers are flaky. There is a reason why the mainstream never picked ALPS up. The image quality stinks and the printer break down constantly. Koolaid drinkers in search of the grail love them.
Hi all : I had been plagued for so long a while sometime ago by the "CR Error" message from my MD1000...please, try to read below what I've sent to Mr. Collingwood on what caused it and the procedure my son took to solve the problem... http://www.hobbyfanatics.com/index.php?act=Msg&CODE=03&VID=sent&MSID=48744
AS you have found out, the Maxxum AF mount and the MD mounts are much different. They do make tele-converters that allow the use of MD (non-AF) lenses on a Maxxum series camera. You would still need another adapter to make the MD Tamron converter work,
You can buy OKI MD 5000 Cartridges or Citizen Printiva Cartridges. Are the same. There are also resellers that sells only ribbons to exchange in cartridges. http://www.refillx.com/
