Just check for any obstructions inside the unit, if all is clear and it is still giving you the same error, it's time for service or replacement (if warranty permits).
The Carriage Jam error message displays on the control panel display. The print carriage, which holds the ink cartridges, stalls against the left side of the printer. A paper jam might have occurred previously.
To clear a paper jam from the rear door, complete the following steps.
Press in the tab on the left side of the rear door to release the door. Remove the
door by pulling it away from the product.

Gently pull the paper out of the rollers.
CAUTION:
If the paper tears when you are removing it from the rollers, check
the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might be remaining inside
the product. If you do not remove all the pieces of paper from the product,
more paper jams are likely to occur.
Replace the rear door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps into place.

Press the button next to OK to continue the current job.
Follow these steps to make sure that the print carriage can move freely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Check whether the print carriage is moving freely from one side of the product to the other.
If
it does not move freely, apply a moderate amount of pressure to the
right side of the print carriage and push it towards the left.
This action should not require the use of any levers.
If the carriage still does not move freely, skip to the next step
Close the print cartridge door.
Plug the power cord into the back of the product.
Press the
Power
button on the front panel to turn on the product.
Make sure that you are using the power cord provided with the product.
If the product is connected to a computer, make sure the computer has a
grounded (three-prong) power plug.
Make sure the power cord is firmly connected to both the product and the power
adaptor.
Plug the power cord directly into a power outlet.
Remove all paper loaded in the input tray.
Make sure that the product is turned on and remove the USB cable from the back
of the product.
Open the print cartridge door. The print carriage should move to the far right side of the product.
Remove the print cartridges and carefully set them aside.
Close the print cartridge door.
Disconnect the power cord from the product and wait for 60 seconds.
Reconnect the power cord to the product.
Turn on the product by pressing the
On
button.
Open the print cartridge door. The print carriage should move to the far right side of the product.
Reinsert the print cartridges in the appropriate slots.
Close the print cartridge door.
Load paper in the input tray.
If prompted, print a cartridge calibration page, and then scan it.
Make sure the product is turned on.
CAUTION:
If the product is turned off when you open the print cartridge door to
access the print cartridges, it will not release the cartridges for changing. You
might damage the product if the print cartridges are not docked safely when you
try to remove them.
Make sure you have letter or A4 unused plain white paper loaded in the input tray.
Open the print cartridge door.
Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent.
Lightly press down on a print cartridge
to release it, and then pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot.
Hold the print cartridge with the HP logo on top, and insert the print cartridge into
the empty cartridge slot. Make sure you push the print cartridge in firmly until it snaps
into place.
Close the print cartridge door.
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
