Focus/zoom issue with Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 digital camera w/ 12x zoom

This is a symptom commonly listed for DiMAGE cameras listed on EBay for 'parts only'. Dropping the camera I had caused the same problem and carefully 'smacking' the camera once again did solve the problem but that may have been dumb luck. Sorry but it is a service task that may cost more than the camera.

Dimage Z3 blurred zoom images

I don't think there's any problem. Simply, a longer zoom means that - without a faster shutter speed - there is an increased probability for camera shake. Additionally, cameras usually struggle with focus in longer zoom. To be sure that there isn't a fault, do this:

1) Place the camera on a tripod or other sturdy surface
2) For additional stability (and to avoid camera shake due to shutter button movement), select the self-timer
3) Focus and take the shot.
If it's still blurry, then yeah, there's a problem

What kind of focus settings does the DiMAGE Z3 have during movie recording?

The following three settings are selectable during the movie recording: Continuous AF: The single-shot AF is operated in advance of recording, and AF is always operated during recording. Single AF: The single-shot AF is operated in advance of recording, and the focus position is fixed during recording.*This mode is useful for shooting a low contrast and hard-to-be-focused subject, such as fireworks. Is it possible to use the built-in flash on condition that the wide converter is attached?

Yes, it is. Please note the following: *1: It is not recommended to use the built-in flash in the macro mode because vignetting appears. *2: When the focusing range (from the front of filter to the subject) is within 36cm, vignetting appears. Test recording is recommended.
