SOURCE: Black & Decker gh1000 trimmer head not spinning

The same thing happened to me. You either have a ruined belt pulley, or, hopefully, the belt burned out. Belts are easy to find online, but the housing is tricky to remove - see other posts.

I finally got it the plastic housing apart on my trimmer (there is one screw hidden under the label), only to find a total meltdown. The plastic pulley is ruined, and the only way to get it replaced is to buy a new motor (the most expensive part).

If your trimmer is no longer under warranty, then you can get a refurbished gh1000 for the price a new motor unit.

SOURCE: motor works fine, but trimmer will not rotate

Have an assistant start and hold the trimmer. At idle, there should still be a little drag on the clutches to make the shaft spin on that split shaft trimmer with the accessory head removed. No need to rev it or do anything fancy, but teamwork will make it safer.

Now forget about the engine and clutches - does the accessory head spin freely when turned by hand (removed from engine still!) and with a clear rotation of the shaft end visible inside the connector socket? Is the shaft end square with sharply defines angles, or rounded off? Does swapping in a different accessory function normally and as expected?

Sometimes the nub end of the shaft wears. Worse, the socket on the engine side has eaten itself to pieces. Worse, worse yet, clutches in the engine side that engage the accessory shaft are worn and there is simply no transmission of power. Good luck, hopefully this info will set your boots in the right direction!

SOURCE: I can not remove the

The knob is definitely a LEFT handed thread....try this...take a shop rag and double it. Wrap it around the red knob and with a pair of channel locks or large pliers...carefully turn it in a CLOCKWISE direction it should break loose...some crud or water may have gotten in the threads of the cap and are binding it....good maintenance tip....when you get it loose clean the threads and lubricate them with a small amount of grease on the threads....won't stick again...hope this helps...;-D

SOURCE: The motor starts and runs. The trimmer head does

The clutch is not working. You will need to check the clutch and clutch drum to be sure which will involve taking apart the housing to get to it. If this unit is less than a year old, I highly recommend taking it in for warranty service.

After starting a trimmer, Husqvarna 128LDX, motor runs fine, but trimmer head wont rotate with any power , or velocity.

A couple of things here, are you sure the two halves are securely together? if yes you need to check the squares of the drive shafts at both ends, these are flexible drive shafts squared into the gearbox at the bottom, and into the drive drum at the top, if they have rounded off they will slip and stop altogether if the trimmer head is loaded up.

Trimmer head not rotating whilst in operation

If gas then the clutch or cable that runs from the motor is bad. If electric then the motor shaft is probably spinning in the head due to a broken part. Make sure in either case that there is no grass twisted up and stuck between the head and the shaft causing it to bind uo

Trimmer head won't rotate

Usually this is a clutch problem, the clutch is under the drum and when it engages turns the drum which turns the drive shaft which turns the trimmer head. If the drum is not turning than it is the clutch, if the clutch is turning the drive shaft could be broke, if the drive shaft is not broke than the problem would be in the gears of the trimmer head.

The motor starts and runs. The trimmer head does not rotate. I have disconnected at the coupler and I can manually move the head by turning the shaft. Any ideas?

Engine is working but the head is not spinning

There is a drive shaft that runs the length of the tube from the head to the motor. If the head is not on the tube completely the head will not spin. There should be a screw or two on the shaft by the head you can take loose, once it is loose you can rotate the head and push on to tube further. If you need any more help let me know, Daniel.

The motor works but strimmer does not rotate

If the head does not turn, but the motor runs freely, then the reduction gear is damaged. It is inside the motor housing. If the motor tries to run but does not rotate, then there is likely material bound up between the moving and non-moving parts.

Need to remove head from SRM 210 weed trimmer

I have the same model. Home Depot assembles their trimmers then sells them, so I didn't get the stuff that comes with it. A 3/16" punch works perfectly.
