Hi,
There is problem with battery of ipod. The battery inside your iPod is short thats why when you connect the external power for charging it falshes. Because the battery drops the voltage of your adapter. You have to replace the battery of you iPod. Its a foil type battery. May be it will be very difficult get it out side.

It is totally dead and will not charge.

Had same issue... this worked for me:
1. Snap into charger base & plug into wall. Screen still blank. 2. Press Lap/reset, Mode, & Power buttons all three at the same time & hold for 3 seconds - unit will reset. Hopefully then you'll get the 'charging in progress' message.
(also make sure copper points/connectors on unit and charger base are clean).

When i boot my computer the screen stays blank and two lights flash on the under side of the keyboard what does this mean

Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer

Blank screen when turned on, then there are 2 lights that flash they both have a lock symbol before them one is with an A and the other is with a 1. Everything else lights up but screen is just blank/black

follow these steps & ur issue might get resolved(80% chances):
turn off ur notebook-->take out the battery-->disconnect the charger if its connected to the notebook-->now press & hold the power key for atleast 20 seconds, remember that u have to press & hold the power key & dont release the power key till 20 seconds are over--> & ensure that the notebook is not connected to any power source while u r performing this step niether the battery nor the charger--> also there shouldn't be any peripherals connected to the notebook-->once 20 seconds are over & u have released the power key-->connect the battery & the charger back to the notebook & now try to turn on the notebook-->u might not get a blank screen & ur issue might get resolved....(This whole step is known as power drain & it is done to remove the extra static electricity which sometimes get stored in the notebook & gives a blank screen in return.)

Won't turn on or off screen is blank

I had this problem for about 3 hours except that it was a totally blank screen. Unscrew the back of it and take the battery out for about 10 seconds. Put the battery back and it should reset totally. Don't worry about the songs, they'll be fine.
