I have a Pentair Superflo 1.5 HP pump and I called the manufacturer due to a high pitched squealing sound. They recommended I change the shaft seal. I changed it and the noise continues. It does not sound like the bearings (no crunching). HELP!

Bearings squeal before they sound like gravel spinning in the motor; they are most likely what is causing the noise and they need to be replaced.

I have a brand new 1 1/2 hp superflo. I wired it in and turned on the power, it hummed for a few secounds and trip the breaker. now it it wont work and just immediatly trips the breaker. Any ideas as

It sounds like the motor shaft is stuck. The back end of the motor has an end cap that comes off so you can access the end of the motor shaft. Try this with the power off; Remove the cap (center rear of the motor),Using an open ended 9/16 wrench you should be able to turn the shaft back and forth. A motor that has sat for a while will sometimes act like yours did. A nudge with the wrench usually breaks it free. Remove your wrench and turn pump on. If it still won't start the motor may be defective.

Put in new motor, but pump will not turn. a.j. smith motor, pentair ultra flow... installed new seals also

The most common reason is you left part of the old seal stuck on the impeller and the new seal is riding on top of the seal ring (black rubber) of the old and therefore is tom compacted and it binds up the pump. Double check you removed all the old seal parts.

If that's not it, with the impeller off, can you turn the motor shaft then?

Are you sure that you have it wired the right way. it has a setting for 220 or 110 the pump will run if it is not wired correctly however it will be varey ******* the brushes inside the motor resulting in a loss of efficiency
