I have a pfaff 1525 and My bobbin thread forms a loop every 2-3 inches and I am trying to make a veil. I am using a ball point needle size 9 and adjusted the tension wheel to a 6 since the lower the number the more loops it leaves on my fabric. Any suggestions?

Check to make sure that around the tension dial there is no lint or dust
the upper tension spring could be bad

I am not sure about this particular machine but in most machines there will be a nob on the front loose low numbers like 0 1 -2 work well on number 3. If the nob is not on the front check and see if it is on the side.

Rule of thumb.. Loops on the bottom, problem on the top. Loops on the top, problems on the bottom.
Set your upper tension at 4, and rethread the machine from the top. Just before you thread the needle, but the presser foot down. If the thread pulls right thru easily, then the thread is not thru the tension wheel right. Because, if you can't pull the thread thru with the presser foot down, you have it threaded right.
Check you have the right size bobbin case the gap where the needle enters should be 13mm approx at the widest point. A lot of other pfaff bobbin cases seem to fit and can be easily be mistaken. I have two pfaffs and have accidentally mixed the cases and had a similar problem.
OK...I have an old singer (from 1964) so I am not sure whether you can do this...
I thread the upper thread as directed.
I stick the bobbin in the bobbin assembly as directed.
LEAVING THE SLIDE DOOR OPEN...I, by hand turn the wheel on the right hand of the machine counter clockwise (towards me). I want the needle go down. The thread from the upper part will enter the bobbin area and will form a loop that goes OVER the top of your bobbin to catch the thread from the bottom.
I keep turning until the machine has complete a cycle where the needle has started from the highest point, dropped to the lowest point (thus forming the loop that passes over the bobbin) and returns back to the highest point).
At this point you will notice that the thread is coming for from the bottom of the machine..I use a scissor to pull the the ends of the thread through. To the top. There should be two ends, one from the top thread, one from the bottom. If you dont believe me..jsut use a bobbin with a different color of thread...you will see what I mean..there will be two threads...one the first color and one the second color.
You are sewing heavy thread in a machine designed for sewing clothing but it can be done. Use a size 18 needle or a top stitching needle(it has a larger eye). Thread the machine and adjust the tension to 8 or 9. Set the stitch length at 3 or 4. If you still get loops on the bottom, wind the thread around the bobbin winder thread guide once for more tension and then thread it normally. If you do this, lower the tension to 5, test sew and then tighten the tension until the loops go away. sewman7
