cruise is last. the brains in the car dont allow this dangerous device to run, if things are bad. (even dead brake lights)
imagine cruise control out of control for a moment or with grand ma driving?
same with over-drive.
so what is wrong. well 1 simple answer
you failed to scan the PCM, and see those errors, causing those
symptoms.
scan it
get it scanned
win.
Check that the cruise control
module fuses are not blown in the fuse panel. Also make sure your stop
lights are working; cruise controls are designed to disengage when the
brakes are applied, and one method of sensing that is to monitor brake
light current.
The Dashboard light dimmer control is probably stopped working because one of the tiny eletronic bits inside it has died. A temporary fix is to remove the connecting plug on the rear of the unit and put a bridging wire across the terminals. The cruise control problem could have several causes. They operate on engine vacuum so check the hose going to the cruise control unit in the engin bay from the inlet manifold. If the hose is cracked or hard there will not be enough vacuum to operate the cruise control.
The only thing I can think is that the cruise control and the other computerized functions all share the same electronic module. The added current to drive the valves of the cruise control might be just enough to cause a temperature failure that cools down back into the operational zone in the 2 to 3 seconds it takes you to restart the engine.
It could also be faulty programming, where the part of the code that causes the failure only gets included in the operation of the car while the CC is on.
It's mystifying.
Call the dealer to see if there is a bulletin or a recall.
My 1999 Jag XJ8 did the same thing when the cruise control was activated (red button by the gear shift), but I wasn't actually using the cruise control. I deactivated the cruise control and the fail safe message no longer appears.
find the line to the cruise control and block it off amd the cruise control unit//put tapr over it..you night get a service engine soon but if if runs who cares! your getting closer to the problem! tty it and see if it works now..it could be a bad hose or or cruise control unit...blocking off the tube would sugest to me that is a bad cruise control and the computer senses a bad input probably from a leaking hose, try that and get back to me im curious,,and if it fixes it can i get a rating ..Thanks.
I thought this year of Santa Fe had a 100k Warranty? If so, take it to the dealer and get it fixed. Even if it's not under warranty, take it and get it fixed! This is dangerous to use with the cruise control!! Do not use the Cruise Control until you get this fixed. It sounds like a bad speedomoter sensor, and that is confusing the Cruise Control. Either your speedometer is going to stop working altogether, or your going to RAM someone from behind going at a DANGEROUS rate of speed. Take it and get it fixed, and do not use the Cruise Control until it is fixed.
Just a wild suggestion not at all specific to your car... Check the bulbs in, and functionally of, your turn signals and tail lights and brake lights. I'd don't know if it still applies, but once upon a time a burnt out bulb would cause the cruise not to work (some kind of a safety thing).
hi
im dave
if the air bag light is on that means the system is disabled. If you dont mind driving without an airbag than i would say it is no more dangerous than driving a pre air bag vehicle and those inherent dangers. Remember howevere that an air bag is a secondary resttraint system and should always be used in conjunction with the primary restraint system...your seatbelts.
