Download and run the "HP Print Diagnostic Utility."
Or search for the utility on the HP website. It will fix common problems and restart a stalled print spooler.
For XP - "print spooler service is not running"
Start> Run > CMD and press enter, then type 'net start spooler'(without quotes)
For further trouble shooting as to why it is not auto running, go to Start> Control Panel (in classic veiw) > administrative tools > services
in there you will find print spooler, make sure that service is set to automatically run, you can also start the service from there and if it can't run it will give you the error as to why.
For Win 7

1.Click "start button"-->"Run",Type "services.msc" and click OK.

3.Delete contents of the C:\Windows\System32\spool\printers folder.

Or you can open command prompt and type in windwos 7

net start spooler
Hope it helps.
Hello there Marejen,
See if there is any spooler.exe running in your task manager. Press ctrl, alt + delete to go there. If you see the process, click to highlight then end it. Then restart your computer and the printer itself. Then try to initiate a print again once everything is loaded.
Please let me know if this helps. Thank you for using FixYa.
