It's better to stick on that firmware cause when you update it on internet or any,your phone might be at risk if the update stops due to network connection error or power failure,it is possible to update your phone with the use of gsm gadget,and mostly service center has that tool.

Are you on android version 2.1?
you can go to settings, about phone, and look for Firmware Version. If its 2.1 this is the latest update for this phone.

If you are at versions 2.1 the only way to get the phone to version 2.2 is to root your phone and install a custom ROM which voids your warranty.

I don't think you can update firmware on chinese phones.

I too did the same thing with my E61i and lost the phone. Luckily it was in warranty period, so I got a new E63 instead. Samething has happened to your E71. That is why I always advise people to get their phones upgraded thru Nokia Care as they do it with their computers and not via the internet, which is always dicey. I hope your phone was under warranty. If yes then tell Nokia Care immediately and have it replaced. You may still be replaced with E71 as it is still under production. All the best.

I have that problem too. You can try to restore all to default factory setting, you can find this way in security submenu. Dont forget to backup your phone first.If this way didnt work you can try to upgrade your firmware. But be carefull not using Vista to do it. Cause nokia updater not compatible with Vista. The last firmware 5.81. If you are already using this firmware you can reinstall it.

Try upgrade the firmware, bring your phone to HTC service center or to the place where you bought it. This might be caused from bugs from early firmware (software) from your phone, since people keep complaining, sure HTC will make a newer firmware which is bug-free and update it to internet or to their service center.

P.s: If you still have warranty, bring it to HTC service center, it'll be free and will not broke your warranty. And don't let them have your phone by days, upgrade only need couple of hours, try to wait them, make them promise that it'll be finished by that day. Good Luck ^^

first give "restore factory settings" you will asked for the "security code" enter that .. after "restore factory settings" you restart the phone without memory card ...

if you still face the problem after the " restore factory settings" then
