Panasonic Model RR-930. The machine will not play, FF or rewind the tape - put tape in and nothing happens when I press the buttons nor use the foot pedal. Power is on - I've changed tape speed to see if that's the problem but it's not. Have never had this problem before - HELP!?

Check that the pause switch is off. Otherwise, either the belt is broken or the motor is bab.

Panasonic RR-930 does not backspace with or without pedal. It engages the mechanism but appears stuck when tape is inserted. Runs fine without tape in deck.

The ancient tape is junk. Buy a new one. You might also try slamming the old tape against a wall or desk to loosen up the tape layers. Then FF and RW all the way.

Machine will play cassettes but not rewind or ff

Most likely the unit needs new belts. Also possible that a switch has broken. the switched is underthe tape deck on the circuit board.

Only used 2 months. rewind not working with the pedal but does work using the rewind button on the machine though sluggishly. works if I press down on the tape viewing cover. bought brand new on ebay a...

Could be a few problems. Sometimes the lube dries up on the solenoid so it is not engaging. Could have the rewind switch on the circuit board broken loose. possibly needs belts as well.

My Panasonic RR-930 transcriber speeds up and slows down as I play back tapes. The problem seems to be with the machine itself and not the foot pedal or the tapes. Where do I start?

Start by cleaning the capstan roller. The rubber roller and small steel rod just above it, control the tape speed. Just a little lint, build up or animal hair wrapped around this can cause the speed to vary. Clean with alcohol and a Q-tip.

When pausing and playing the tape screeches. Already tried another unit (same model) and changing out tapes. Still screetches.

Hello not sure if you referring to the audio when you realize foot control the unit does auto backspace and the short rewind is audible if this is not your problem the unit has a bad motor probably you can send it to repair to this place
Send an email to [email protected] or call (800) 644-9525. Please indicate model, serial and detailed description of problem

Foot pedal FF or Rewinds when pressing Play

It's possible that there's a broken wire in the cable that connects the foot control to the machine. This usually happens near the plug that plugs into the machine, or by the end that goes into the foot control.

You can usually duplicate it if you put the auto-backspace up a bit and then hold down the play pedal on the foot control. While holding down the play pedal, try moving the cable near the machine or near the foot control in a circular motion. If the machine stops, rewinds or fast forwards, then odds are that the problem is with the cable.
