I have a Dell AIO 964 printer and a print job I was doing stopped printing after 5 pages. I waited an hour, then hit "cancel all print jobs". It has been "deleting" for two hours. I've turned off the printer but when I turn it on there the job sits, still deleting. Can anyone tell me what has happened and, more importantly, how to fix it?
I have the same issue but to shut everything down and reboot my computer is not a good solution every time I need to print something. Have you figured out why this is happening and what I can do to correct it?

how your printer icon is looking on control panel, if dim, it means it is not detecting , if normal it means detecting then,
go to control panel open printers, then open your printer, cancel all the documents, then send a print command and check
If the light flashing is the "light bulb like button" or the "Ready/Light" button, it means that either the printer is:
• The printer is busy receiving and processing data or printing. • The printer is printing a directory, font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages.
If it's Busy: • Wait for the message to clear. • Press and release Cancel to cancel the print job. • Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.
If it's printing a directory, a font list, menu settings pages, or Print Quality Test Pages: • Wait for the pages to print. The Busy message is displayed as the pages print. The Ready light is on when the printing stops. • Press and release Cancel to cancel printing. • Press and hold Cancel to reset the printer.
Bidirectional Printing - A means of printing by a computer printer which prints one line from left to right, then the following line from right to left. Such printing is faster than printing in one direction only, as there is no need to wait for the carriage or other imaging mechanism to return to the left margin before starting a line. how to enable bi-directional printing.here's how:
-click on start
-click on printers and faxes (control panel->printers and faxes)
-right-click on Dell Photo All in One Printer 964 All-In-One icon
- click on properties
-click on ports tab
-down at the bottom there's a small box before bi-directional support
-tick the box to enable it then click apply,ok
-try printing again
note: in vista , printers and faxes is printers.in win 7 ,it's devices and printers. and properties in win 7 is printer properties
