Follow this link and read all comments/instructions. I have the Polaroid FLM 3732 37 inch and about a week ago this same problem occurred. I did not have the money to fix it, or get a new tv so I was pretty bummed. Then I found this site.

I am a single mom (girly girl) age 40 who has never done any kind of electronics work or soldering, but I was able to fix my TV following these directions and there is also a youtube tutorial for these exact problems.

I fixed it for under $30, and I am so proud and also earned some "street cred" with my 14 year old son!!
Polaroid is ripping people off left and right...it's disgusting but now I feel like I bucked the system for once!!
Hey guys, I read the solution about replacing the 10v 1000muf caps in the power supply module. I was ready to throw the set out. I tore apart an old old old Jerrold 700 converter and found a couple of caps that were 1000muf. One was 26v and the other was 52v. Anyway, the set works great now and I now have a 37" LCD in my shop to watch the Leafs!!!!
Thanks for the advice.
StereoSteve.
I tried the capacitor fix and it did not work for my TV. The original ones were not bulged though... thought I'd try anyway.
There is apparently more than 1 issue with this TV....
Fixya has a detailed posting involving replacing 2 bad caps in the TV.I recommend you replace the 3rd cap nearby, which is also 1000 microfarad but a different voltage, while you have it apart. The Radio Shack 1000 micrfarad 35 volt caps work just fine.Don't worry about the slightly higher voltage rating. That will not cause a problem.
I had the same problem. tonight im watching my TV again. I changed the capacitors on the power board that were swelling and it works fine. Less than
min. with some soldering skills.
Just got of the phone with Polaroid. Let them have it. They were ready to charge me $250.00 to fix a $3.28 problem. Fix your TV keep it as long as you can and never buy Polaroid again. I had a blue light and no picture or sound. I took the back cover off my TV, took the control modular out. At the top to the middle left are two capacitors. The rating is 1000muf 10v. Take a soldering iron heat up the stems and remove them. You will be able to tell they are bad by the bulge at the top of the capacitors. Goto Radio Shack and get two 1000muf 35v. Solder them back into your board and put backing back on. Plug in TV and enjoy. BOYCOTT POLAROID!
My blue lcd light came on but no sound and no picture... I fixed it myself... If you want me to guide you step by step to fix it for less than 5 dollars email me your phone number at [email protected] or look under solution named "Rico_Rique"... I hope i can help you all SAVE MONEY!
I have a control box for sale with replaced capacitors for sale for $200 + shipping

Im having the same problem I sent my tv to have it repaired twice now. They told me last week that I would have to wait a week for the part to come in. Than they called me again today to tell me the same thing.
I have the exact same problem. The frustrating part is that it is just past the warranty. Yikes! ! ! Where can I get help to fix/find parts or service? ? ?
I have the same problems with my TV. Is this something I can fix or would you recommend it be taken to a TV repair shop.
Same problem- blue light comes on, but TV no worky, worky. Couple times I was able to unplug the power cord from the TV and it would come back on- now it's just completely dead ... except for the blue light
I have the same problem. does anyone know what is wrong with it? how much does this cost to fix? Has anyone even gottin it fixed were it works again, or do i need to start saving for a nother stupid tv thats not a polaroid?
I have the same prob. Has any one actually gotten this fixed? Without costing an arm and a leg.
i have the same problem so what i do is unplug the power wait 10 seconds reconect and press power on with my remote controll and 15 seconds later i get picture and sound .I will take it to a repair shop when this no longer works
I have the same problem. The TV will not come on unless unplugged and plugged back in. To fix it was told part would cost $477.00 The TV is only two years old. What a bummer.
blue light comes on no picture or sound.
I have apolaroid 37 inch and it is only 2 years old.
The blue light stays on and the screen stays black, no picture and no sound. I was told too expensive to fix.
I have this same problem too. I actually bought this tv 2 years ago and with in 8 months the blue light came on with no audio or picture. This was still under the one year warrenty, so a tech came out and said it was not fixable and we were sent a new (refurb) tv. This TV, after 6 months, started having the picture and sound go in and out. I called Polaroid and was told it was not under any warrenty but i had the option to buy a limited warrenty that would allow them to fix my tv for $300 dollars when it broke again. That was not the warrenty price it was another $!00. I told them 300 is to much to pay for a TV that only last 6 months and actually tried to get them to buy my tv back to use for parts, they did not take me up on that. My TV is still working when it wants to. So my answer to this problem is to never buy another Polaroid TV again and do not spend the money to fix it just save and buy a better brand.
The same has happened with mine! Bought the tv March 3 2007 with tthe 2 year ext warranty. My went out in May hmmm imagine that one mont after the ext warranty expired! Call the phone # told me to go to website cant find that either! We told have the extra money to go buy a new one! Soooo frustrated!
