I am publishing this tip because of the many users asking me about the code 5AB on Amana, Maytag and other ovens.
Error 5AB in fact does not exist , and what you see written on display isnot 5AB.
The beeping sound is a warning because the oven is in lock condition. The oven is not faulty, and the code is not 5AB, but SAB.
SAB means that the oven is in Sabbath mode, and the control board will be locked for 72 hours with SAB on display.
If power is disconnected a new 72 hours cycle will start.
Depending on the model, there may also be a beeping sound when you try to operate the oven.
Push and hold the Clock button for about 10 seconds, until the display clears, that will reset SAB mode.
If that does not work leave the oven connected and off for 72 hours. If
the oven does not unlock after three days, then the electronic control
may be stuck in SAB mode because it is faulty, in that case contact the
manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.
The fact that the display is 'ON' confirms you have power.
The displayed info probably is a 'code' for a fault/problem, but you did not provide a brand nor a model. Even if you had, odds are I do not have access to the list of codes & their meanings.
Try unplugging the plug from the wall receptacle. If you cannot reach the power cord next option would be locate the circuit breaker (single pole) which HOPEFULLY is labeled. Either way, try removing / turning OFF power for at least 10-20 seconds! The control's microprocessor may be locked up due to a very short power interruption.
If that does not reset it, I would call service or the manufacture. You can TRY requesting help over the phone FIRST! Good LUCK
This is SB mode, show room mode. To deactivate showroom mode, remove power and reapply. Press Cancel to bypass programming clock. Within 60 seconds of reapplying power, press Oven Light key and top oven Timer key simultaneously.

According to the manual, this mode is SAB and not 5AB. SAB stands for sabath mode and lasts for 72 hours. The mode may be canceled by holding in the clock button for 3 seconds. This mode was activated by holding in the clock button for 3 seconds. My wife did the same thing when resetting the clock for daylight savings time this year. Resetting the power does not reset SAB mode.
