Dehumidifier problem I have a GE Model AHG30LHG1 30 Pint dehumidifier that freezes up on the bottom half of the coils when set at below 60% humidity. If I set for 55% it will freeze up within an hour. Temperaature in basement is above 65 degrees. Any suggestions?

First, make sure the rectangular filter on the back side is clean so air can flow over the coils freely. Try to place the dehumidifier on a table or something to get it off the floor. (floor level is cooler than head level) If you still have icing issues, replace sensor. (part # WK23X10011 )

Dehumidifier does not reduce humidity.

Good Afternoon Miguel,

I understand that your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# LAD704TDL, is not reducing the humidity, due to the coils constantly freezing up. I also see that it is located in good temperatures and in a good position. I suggest contacting the manufacturer directly. They should be able to point you in the right direction to having your appliance fixed. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

BUCKET DOES NOT FILL WITH WATER

It could be the coil & condensor are dirty.

Or it could be that the humidity level is below what the unit will work at. Below 50% humidity and or 70 degrees Fahrenheit, it generally will not do much.
I have had a AD75UST0 WHIRLPOOL Dehumidifier for several years. If it actually still runs, I would suggest you take off covers and give the coils a good thorough cleaning. Otherwise the units are not designed to be serviceable aka - "disposable small appliance". if you do dispose of it take it to a qualified recycle organization for Freon products. I am showing a HI on my current humidity/set humidity display what does it mean

The HI indicates that the current humidity is 90%+ in the room/unit. You should check if the filter is clogged. I've seen this message in dryer locations when the dehumidifier coils ice up. Check the coils (behind the filter) for any build up.

If this is a brand new dehumidifier, leave it on for an hour to see if it auto-defrosts. (A similar wait is needed if the room is cooler that 60 degrees F.)

If the unit continues to freeze up and the room is over 60 degrees, you may have a refrigerant leak in the dehumidifier. If it is still under warranty (5 years on the cooling system), contact Haier. The warranty service number is 1-877-337-3639.

The manual for the DE65EK is available here: www.haieramerica.com/downloads/dl/file/id/26/de65ek_manual.pdf . You will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to access the manual.

I hope this helps.

The dehumidifier wont work even the lights was on and it show Lo all the times and we do not know why it happen and how can we get it fixed as we live in Oshawa, Ontario?

I found this on the web

Q - Will my dehumidifier work in a cold room ?

A - A dehumidifier will not operate satisfactory in a room that is below 65 degrees F. At this temperature it will become necessary to operate the dehumidifying coil below freezing temperatures in order to reduce the relative humidity to a reasonable valve. Frost on coils usually will appear.

I would imaging that the humidity is already lower than the dehumidifier could get it down to. that's why it reads "Lo" on the display.

Makes a crackling sound while running

If the room tempature is close to 60, the coils may be frozen (completely encased in ice). If this is the case, move it where the water can drain off - about 1 gallon which may NOT run into the drain bucket.
I out mine over the floor drain.
Turn off and it will defost over night.
Only specially made dehumidifers work below a room temo of 60 degrees (the temp of a basement in winter).
Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensot from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - only 50% or less.

When do you use the dehumidifier?

In areas with poor circulation and humidity over 80%.

What is the proper humidity control % setting?

It is recommended that your settings stay at 35%. The ideal level of humidity in your house is anywhere between 30% to 60% depending on the weather outside.. I hope that this works for you. Have a good day
