You oil this machine anyplace that it moves and rubs. Needle bar, joints that drive the needle bar,end of each shaft, presser foot bar, hook race etc. Do not use 3 in 1 oil. Use a good quality sewing machine oil. sewman7

Consult your owner's manual for maintenance instructions. Use only good quality sewing machine oil--not old brown, foul-smelling oil, 3-in-2, WD-40, or cooking oil. Apply only 1-2 drops of oil as instructed.
please read the instruction menu for oiling area. a small plastic bottle singer oil can be purchased at joanne fabric shop or any department store carries fabric. if you can't find the menu booklet, a drop of oil should be enough on all moving mechanism. don't over do it. best way is move the pulley where the belt is attached. see the movement for all moving mechanism. then one drop oil should be enough. be sure clean out the dust in general are by using vaccum cleaner before lubricating the macjine. do not oil the belt, otherwise will lose friction and slip when sewning. hope this will help. bob
contact singer customer service about oiling, some machine are self oiling, since the feed dog is up and not feeding the fabic then the machine needs to be checked to see what wrong with the feed dogs.
I just looked at your manual, and if you look at page 9 you will see the little lever in back of the foot adaptor to release, just push that to release that foot. If, you have any questions on it, take it to your dealer or just go to JoAnn fabrics and have them show you. Even Sears sewing department is great for demos. Unless your machine is not an XL 5700 it does have snap on presser feet. You will see how really easy it is to do once someone shows. Good luck and have fun with it, Happy Easter
Singer doesn't recommend self-oiling on this machine, that is why there are no instructions in the manual. You should take your machine to a trusted repair facility for oiling.
