Overwrite all calendar events

The palm I synchronise regularly for my boss is a mess because he restored all his files in stead of making an backup. I would like to delete all the calendar events in the palm and then synchronise again, so that the calendar events from the PC which is correct are put back in the palm. sorry for my bad language

Selct Desktop overwrite Handheld. You can change the way the synchronisation takes place for all applications, either from the palm desktop application or from the status icon in the taskmanager bar. There are different options: - Synchronize - Handheld overwrite desktop - Desktop overwrite handheld - Do Nothing If the PC is up-to-date and you want to use these data you should select the "Desktop overwrite Handheld". This will clear the handheld calender and replace with the data from the pc/desktop

Hot Sync deleted the entire calendar on both the handheld and the desktop. Contacts are still intact.

Hi Tracy,

Palm creates a backup file of your data so you can restore that file as long as you have not tried to sync your calendar again (that would create another backup file that would be blank.

Here is the link to a forum post that explains how to replace the data file with the backup:

Recover lost calendar events on a Palm z22

Hi suzbt:
JOY's answer, that you try to do a SYSTEM RESTORE on your Computer to get the data back is a really good one, that I did not think of! All manual instructions, and USER instructions on doing a SYNC with the Palm Z22, REPEAT : 1/ Always have a back up of the hard data 2/ Always check all transferred DATA on a SYNC, "Even if it states 'transfer Successful'", 3/ Even, if necessary, write down the data, ...
There are a few software programs to identify FILE problems on the Z22, listed on my web page:

http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

and ways to recover corrupt data, but these are getting more and more difficult to find and use...

User comments on the SYNC indicate that any SYNC is a risky procedure, and backups and re-checking all data is necessary at all times.

I hope that the information on my web site comes in useful in keeping the Palm Z22 up and running!

good luck

Sync only goes one way -- from palm to computer

Check the hot sync manager to set the flow of info from desktop to device during the initial restoration of data to your Palm. Afterwards, once you have all your info restored, you'll want the device(s) and desktop calendar to update each other, so make sure your settings in the sync manager reflect that, otherwise you'll continue to have one schedule overwriting the other.

Hope that helps. Let me know how you make out.

Lost Data

Sounds like you've wiped all your data. It's a good discipline to keep a regular backup of all your Palm files on the PC so that if this happens you can restore the last backup and re-synchronise. I have had several Palm devices, and all of them have corrupted files at some point.

Possible to restore data after a Hard Reset?

look here for your files
C:\Program Files\palmOne\[username]\Backup
and
C:\Program Files\palmOne\[username]\address

Now that you've made this mistake once, you probably want to get a backup program. I use the built in backup in Resco Explorer. They also make a stand alone application.

For your SD card backup might look at Bluesync.
For a free option you can use the PFB (palm file browser), but I would still manually backup the card with a cardreader attached to the pc on occasion.

Lost calendar on hotsync

The information is unfortunately lost.

Unless you synced the palm on another computer, the palm only can back up the information when synced.

So if you sync it and the computer overwrites the handheld, the information never made it to the computer and thus cannot be restored.

The only thing you could check would be the backup folder in the palm directory under your profile name. Palm puts all of the .prc/.pdb files in there when you sync.

Corrupt Date Book Fixed

Updated Instructions Simple fix for a corrupted Date Book sync error (at least it worked for me on my Treo 650). 1). Turn off 'Show Calendar Event' in the Phones 'Options - General Preferences' menu. 2). Turn off phone. 3). Set the Date/Time to the maximum limits (12/31/31) in Preferences. 4). Open the Calendar and view the maximum day 12/31/31. 5). Select 'Purge - (Delete events older then 1 week)' in the Calendars Options menu. 6). Reset the Date/Time to the current day in Preferences. 7). Hotsync (Desktop Calendar overwrites handheld). 8). Hotsync again to make sure you don’t get the error (Synchronize the files). That’s it. =============================== Outlook Calendar The attempt to open the database failed. Date Book application database is not found. Please invoke the Date Book application on the handheld once and re-synchronize.
