Can you tell me what software i need to download to get my computer to recognize that I plugged in my nikon cool pix s230 camera?

  • kakima Jul 31, 2011

Have you considered NOT connecting your camera to your computer? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Having gone over a month without a response to my query, I assume my suggestion to use a card reader eliminated the need to plug the camera into a computer.

Not sure how to make a pic black & white, after I have taken the shot. How do I do this? I have a Nickon Cool Pix S230

Hello,
Unfortunately the camera doesn't have the ability to change the colour tone after you have taken the photo. If you have some photofinishing software you are able to change the tone to your photos.
The S230 however does allow you to change whether you're in B&W, Sepia or natural tone before you take your shot. It's a really fun feature to play with and I encourage you using it!
Hope this helps.
