Try using another SD card to see if that one will read. If so, there is a problem with your SD card. But if that card is also unable to be read, and your phone is fully updated, there is a problem with the reader on your HTC handset. You can contact HTC for a repair or a replacement. You might even have some luck at the retailer where you originally bought your phone. It's a fairly new model.
Here's HTC's number:

That does not sound fun, I know my brother has had this problem with his HTC phone. What he did was that he formatted the memory card and also hard reset the phone. This returns the phone in to factory settings and you will loose everything personal not stored on the memory card. Hard reset can be found if you press HOM > MENU, then tap Settings > Security > Factory data reset. Begin with doing that and maybe, if your lucky it will solve your problem.
Good luck, and please if you find my answer helpful please give it thumbs up :)
Its in the manual. If you don't have one download it from HTC. It answers a lot of questions. You'll also might need to download HTC sync from their website as well. But you'll need to plug the phone into a usb port with the cable that came with the phone. When the computer sees the phone then you have to unmount the sd card. There will be a notice in the notifications bar on the phone. Just click unmount. it should show up as a drive on the computer. just remember MOUNT the sd card again BEFORE you unplug it from the computer. You could trash the sd card!!
First you want to go into your phones settings from there find the title labled ' SD card & Phone Storage'. Then choose Unmount SD card this allows for your card to be safely removed without losing any Data. Then slide the back cover off your device look for 'MicroSD' written on your right side and gently press the card in, it should come out fairly easy.
THIS WILL MAKE YOU LOOSE ALL FILES!!!
(even password)
Take the memorycard out of the phone and,
put it in a computer.Use filesystem FAT-32
to reformat your memorycard.
Now the card will work again!
No password, No files will be left after a
complete reformat
This is your solution! Please vote!
