The amplifier is never to much for the sub. If the gain on the amp is turned up to much then that will pop the sub.

Check your wiring for any exposed. Make sure there are no wires touching and that you have the proper gauge wiring for that size amp. I used 4 gauge with that same amp and never had an issue.

Check the impedance of the speaker to be sure that it matches the output of the amp. Common error on this detail can cause the amp to overheat and shutdown/protect.

Will I able to run two or four kicker competition fifteen inch subs to this amp?

  • You could effectively hook up two 15" Kickers. Make sure they are power hungry because that amp has some weight behind it. I don't recommend 4 speakers though. Get a second amp if you want to run 4 15" speakers.

I have 2 JL Audio 8W0's rated at 75 RMS. I had a MTX 280 Amp pushing them but need to replace it, what brand and size amp do you recommend for these speakers.

  • This Kicker Amp will compliment them JL Audios like nothing else. KICKER ZX Series ZX350.4 4 channels all rated @ 75 watts RMS. If it was me that would be my choice for a replacement amp.
