This can be caused by several problems including a defective eject switch in the cameras internal circuitry or a bad motor and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

I have an old model Optura 20. Do I need a wizard to download digital videos from the camera to my comuter?

Not sure what you mean by wizard - just load the software provided, then connect the camcorder with the lead originally provided.

Remove tape from dead camcorder?

I think the battery failed, I would replace the battery. You can buy the battery by number (battery info is printed on the battery) on eBay.

DV tape won't eject from Canon Optura 20. Power on, screen flashes "eject". Battery is fine. Tape comes up but won't release.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

Will not eject mini dv tape

I had the same problem. I cycled through the eject process until it finally gave me back my tape. I had to send it back to have the tape carriage replaced

Eject mechanism not functioning

Once when this happened to me, I took it to a repair shop and they said it just needed to be cleaned. (Optura PI tape won't eject)

Reads "eject tape" or "remove tape"

Theres been a failure in the drive system for the tape. Probably mechanical, so you woul need to take it in to get fixed.

A few times I've been able to resolve this by blowing compressed air in the frame and cleaning the head (if u can get to it)

    Transfer Problem

I just went through exactly what you are describing and my solution was to install a Firewire card. The DV cable transfers my video's from the camera's cassette to my PC with no breakdown in quality. I'm very happy with this. The USB only works with the memory card, (quality is lost) Got my Firewire card on Ebay cheap, and it came with the cable and the software.
