The message '515 - Power supply fan not detected' in my HP Compaq dc5700 is disturbing a lot. Would you please suggest me how can I stop this message during booting up the PC. I don't need any other solution related to fan but I just want to get rid of the halt message. I've checked inside the BIOS but failed. Please suggest.

I am currently running a MS-7500 and have the same issue, I doubt very highly it is the mobo's as there are many different mobo's this is happening to. I do not have the answer to fixing this problem yet, However! I can tell you that mine did not start showing this error until I reset my BIOS after installing mobo into a new case and a new windows install, then error message and blue F1 Boot before it lets me boot up. Someone has the answer to fix this issue, sorry it was not me.

To fix problem with 515-Fan not detected.
Recently I replaced the power supply on my HP 7900 desktop from standard 240 watts to 680 watts.
When I rebooted PC had error 515 Fan not detected in the old power supply.
The motherboard controls two fans, one for CPU and other for power supply,
So what I did was to find an old fan with 3 pin plug or four pin plug and plugged it to the brown 4 pins socket on motherboard where the original fan plug, power supply was fitted.
    Rebooted and problem was fixed.

John Lakka's fix worked. I thought about doing that, and after reading his suggestion, I thought, give it a try. Works perfectly. I did have to use a 4 pin fan, but it's working like it should.

SOURCE: hi, my HP Pavilion

1) It might be a motherboard problem, you may have to change a suitable motherboard
2) Try reset your motherboard to default setting,
3) if your motherboard do work, get a old PCI display card if possible. Try to get a display
4) go to HP website to get your latest bios to see everything is in place

SOURCE: I have 2 Toshiba L355D

It sounds very unlikely but it does sound like the harddrives crashed and need to hard drives in both. That would be the cheapest route but if not the hard drive then it would be the motherboad not sending power to the harddrive.

My hp d530 is suddenly swithing off

Could be an overheating issue. You can open the case and see if the cooling fan over the CPU is spinning when the PC is operating. If not, you should replace it.

If there is a lot of dust inside, you may want to blow it off with an air compressor, but power off and disconnect the computer first. Also remember to stop the cooling fan from spinning when struck by air from the compressor (you can use a wooden pencil to stop it) to avoid damaging it.

Let me know if this helps, best luck

Error 511

It means the 3 pins for that fan are not working on motherboard . I suggest you use the motherboard 3 pins for the chasis fan and buy a CPU fan with 4 pin setting that connects to your power supply ( much better current )

Install new power supply?

The monitor is not receiving any signal from the PC. When you push the power button ON, is there any activity on the PC (LEDs on, power supply fan, etc) or it's just dead ? In this case, yes, the first thing to check is the power supply.
