Use Google or Bing and search for an HDMI to VGA with audio adapter. Be careful not to mistake the VGA with audio to HDMI adapter. They are not the same device and some internet locations have very limited descriptions and can be confusing.

to get high definition you will need to use either the vga or dvi output from your notebook and connect to the DVI input on the tv, vga connection on the tv will only give 480i whereas dvi will give upto 720i

The connector board inside the tv is the one has circuit traces already broken. there is nothing outside the tv can be done. The HDMI conector is high end technology solder. finally the solution is to replace the conector board inside the tv.

you have to set your laptop to send a signal to the television. there is a function option there that you need to press on the keyboard depending on what laptop model you have. for others its fn+f8. you just have to set your tv to pc and set your pc to send the signal.
