Proscan ps35653 will not turn on after recent move

A Proscan ps35653 was new in 1993 this set has only been used one day out of 30.,... once a month it was moved to another home about a month ago.... Now the TV system will not turn on ...... I've not found the owners book yet.... but think that this system can be RESET by using the front panal.... It there anyway to reset this? if the power supply is bad what might it cost to have fixed... from what I've found online this model has had power supply problmes... If so why were they not recalled?

As far as I know there is no reset procedure involving use of the front panel. Service reset procedure is done with original remote.
By the way if it does not start you cannot do areset.
Check fuse on power supply unit.

or the problem of moisture on the power supply board due to rare use.it not helping tv to start properly.apply blower on the power supply board.

  • Anonymous Aug 31, 2008

the cost of power supply board is near to $ 250.

but call the service center to replace it as if you will gwt and replace you will not get any warranty for it , and if the service center will do you will get the warranty of about nearly six months.

I have an RCA proscan tv, CRT type. My sound has to be turned all the way up to hear it. There is also a low hum whether the sound is up or down and does not change volumn, no matter if the sound is

The ctc169 was the workhorse of the RCA line being used in over 300 models----sounds like a possible audio output circuit---a lot of parts are no longer available and I would be careful having a shop fix a set this old.

YOU "might" be able to get around this with a surround sound system used with a cable box.

I have a RCA Proscan PS35653 that won't power on. I have had this happen before & took it back to Circuit City where I purchased it. They repaired it but are no longer in business. It didn't cost much...

These units are famous for high voltage/horizontal problems which could have affected the power supply. Parts are beggining to be no longer available for these sets. Have a shop give you an estimate before putting a lot of money in it. Thanks for using fixya.

The slide to turn on the phone will not move.

Try using the stylus located bottom right. Use finger nail to flick out. Once you've done this select settings and select pen calibration until Done appears on screen this sets the sensor according to your touch!
All the best.
