Hi I have a toshiba portege m750 and my little brother was using it and I have decided to use it for college but the only thing is he cannot remember I was just wondering how would I go about changing the password or would I have to reboot it ?! I am in desperate need as I am entering my final year in college and this laptop is essential to me. Thank you for your help

You can set a user password from inside Windows. From the configuration panel look for an icon that represents two persons and click on it. Follow instructions on setting a user password.
You can also set a password on boot but you have to be careful: If you forget it you cannot open the tablet to remove the password. You will need to take the computer to a Toshiba Certified Service Center.

To set the password on boot you can use the BIOS SetUp configuration or a Toshiba Windows applications (HRWset).

For Windows XP tablet PC edition 2005
If you have the CrossMenu application you can run the HRWsetup from there. You can also go to All programs, Toshiba Utilities and look for HRWSetUp.

For Windows Vista or Windows 7, the name of the application may be Toshiba Security Assist.

Be very careful. You must not lose the password
