The applications created by TI people can be downloaded from education.ti.com and transferred to the calculator using the TI Connect software. Similarly, the third party program found on the Internet at tiCalc.org or other sites can also be downloaded and transferred to the calculator. As to the programs you typed in yourself, you will have to retype them again.

To prevent future losses of programs you must frequently backup the contents of your calculator on a computer. Use the TI connect backup feature.
I must add that you can also transfer programs and apps from a similar calculator.

Can I retore a cleared progam on my ti84

If you only cleared RAM, a program that was loaded no longer resides in RAM, but if it was archived, it should still be available.
If you cleared all Including Archives, then it is lost.

Ti 83 will not power on replaced all batteries

When you clear memory, the contrast sometimes changes. If the screen
is faded or blank, adjust the contrast by pressing 2nd and up- arrow or down- arrow keys .

Resetting RAM restores RAM system variables to factory settings and
deletes all nonsystem variables and all programs. Resetting defaults
restores all system variables to default settings without deleting variables and programs in RAM. Resetting RAM or resetting defaults does not
affect variables and applications in user data archive.
Tip: Before you reset all RAM memory, consider restoring sufficient available
memory by deleting only selected data.
To reset all RAM memory or RAM defaults on the TI-83 Plus, follow these
steps.
1. From the RAM ARCHIVE ALL menu, select 1:ALL RAM to display the
RESET RAM menu or 2:Defaults to display the RESET DEFAULTS menu.
2. If you are resetting RAM, read the message below the RESET RAM
menu.
• To cancel the reset and return to the home screen, press .
• To erase RAM memory or reset defaults, select 2:Reset.
Depending on your choice, the message RAM cleared or Defaults
set is displayed on the home screen.

How to retrieve lost data

I am sorry for your loss, but there is nothing you can do to retrieve the programs. But cheer up, you have no more figuring out to it, just retyping. And no, the calculator has nothing against you. It just ran out of fuel (batteries depleted). Calculator batteries are supposed to be changed or recharged.

I was using a program that I entered into the program area of my TI-84. It worked perfectly and then I went to use it again, now I get this error message that says :ERR:DATA TYPE. What does this mean?

If it worked perfectly before then it should continue doing so. However when you used it the second time something might have changed in the variable you are feeding it. Foe example if the program needs a parameter A that is supposed to be integer (whole number) but now A stores a decimal value then A is of the wrong data type and the program complains.
I think you should clear all variables and all lists and restart the program. It may be safer to archive the program, then reset the RAM of the calculator. After that, unarchive it and run it.

Can not get it to start up after putting in all five new batteries. screen is full of wierdness but will turn on/off.

Hi,
Where that ''weirdness'' is coming from, I cannot say, but you can press the CLEAR key to clear the screen. Reset the calculator Ram.
Press [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset][ENTER]. Press [CLEAR] to erase the "Ram Cleared" message.

Make it a habit to exit thid-party programs/games after each use. They have a tendancy to get stuck in RAM, thus preventing you from using your calculator.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for rating the solution.

When I turn on the calculator, the screen is stuck with various symbols. What is up with this? How do I get it off?

Hi,
This is not the normal behavior of the calculator. What third party games or programs do to the calculator, I have no idea. Terminate the game or application or program that was running either from inside the program (Press the first row keys to find EXIT, or END) or with [2nd][QUIT] or reset the memory. To do the last press [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset][ENTER]ENTER]. Press [CLEAR] to erase the Ram cleared message.

Hope it helps.
Thanks for using FixYa.

When turned on, my TI-84 Plus says that the RAM is cleared. I pressed on again but you can't do anything after that.

Hello,
If it is always saying RAM Cleared when you turn it on, it may be due to a depleted backup battery. Once you change it, you will not get the message again.
Anyway, you are not supposed to press ON again when calculator is turned on. Just press [CLEAR] to erase the message and have access tho the main calculator screen.
Good luck.

How do you restore a TI-89 Titanium clac

Perhaps one of the following sources will be helpful:

To reset the TI-89 family, TI-92 family and Voyage 200 graphing calculators, press [2nd] [6] (reads MEM over the key). The [F1] menu appears and contains the following options:
  • All RAM - Clears all variables and programs from RAM only. This will not delete items from Archive or Apps.
  • Defaults - Does not clear any files from the calculator. Instead, this option resets the calculator settings to default, including the Mode, Graph Format, Table Setup, and other settings.
  • Vars - Clears all variables from Archive (Flash ROM). This option will NOT delete Apps or variables stored in RAM memory.
  • Apps - Clears all Apps from Archive. This will not delete any variables.
  • Both - Will clear all Apps and Variables from Archive. This will not delete any Variables from RAM.
  • All Memory - Clears everything from RAM and Archive, leaving only the Calculator OS and its components.
For example, I think you will want to follow the last step above... which would be to press [2nd] [6] [F1] [1] [1] [ENTER] [ENTER].

Also, if you are looking to clear all the RAM in another way I would take a look at the guidebook, which is downloadable from the following site in PDF format.

http://education.ti.com/downloads/guidebooks/graphing/89ti/TI89TitaniumGuidebook_Part2_EN.pdf

Take a look at page 951 and 952 for another way to clear the RAM

RAM Cleared

This is kinda a weird situation. Because it's usually the other way around. Your ram will clear if your calculator is frozen. So take out all 5 batteries from the back. Even the back up battery. Then reset it again. 2nd then + then 7 then 1 Then 2. Good luck.
