REMOVE EXTENSION PHONE , MAKE SURE THE HAND SET HANGS UP.

Make sure the telephone wire is plugged into the line jack (not ext jack) and should go straight to the wall, without splitters or extensions. If you still cannot send a fax, try another wire or jack

check the cable has been put in the line socket on the fax and not the tel socket as this is a common mistake and that will stop you getting the ring tone]

1st of all do check that the telephone line cord is plugged into the correct jack in the machine. It needs to be in the jack marked "line." not the jack marked "Tel."

Further questions need to be addressed, such as :Is this a recently acquired machine? or Has the machine been disconnected from the power for any length of time? or Has the machine been moved to a different location?
