Know display anel getting EXTREMELY hot

Hi

I have a mongram stainless steel double oven and when I use the top oven the stainless display (where he knobs are) gets extremely hot. The doors and rest of the stainless are cool. Any thoughts? We ran the self clean cycle today and the fan is still blowing but i cannot touch that panel because of the high temp. It also happened yesterday when I baked at 375.

I have a very similar problem.  I have a 30" single wall oven w/ knob controls (also GE Mongogram).  I have called GE numerous times to complain about the extreme heat on the outer control panel.  In fact, my young son burned his hand on it.  GE has been out to repair the fan that would cool the oven off after shut-off.  But, they couldn't seem to tell me if this was normal or not.  I would think that a fan would be on long into the cooling cycle to completely cool the oven.  My fan (even after replacement) shuts off when I turn the oven off -- still leaving the oven panel way too hot for my hands.  Not to mention, when they replaced the fan, my oven now shuts off when I leave the door open to get something out of it.  My warranty expires next month and I need to get this resolved.  Please help if anyone has any advice for me.

I think you are feeling the heat coming from the oven vent. The fan still runs as it tries to cool down the temp in the compartment housing the electronics.

Lower electric wall oven won't heat up

It is highly likely that your heating element is open so I would ( with power removed) verify the integrity of the element by detaching it and making sure it is not elecltrically OPEN, It is nothing more than a big power resistor that when current is flowing,..gets hot but if it becomes open.. you will not have any curent flow thru it ( or heat generated from it). That would be the first place I would look.. It could also be the control that feeds it..
A few ideas to check..

HOTPOINT DOUBLE OVEN mODEL uy46 BOTTOM OVEN NOT WORKING CANNOT CL

Hi,
While it is flashing auto ,you will not get the oven to heat up.
You must press the timer buttons in the correcf sequence to cancel auto.Refer to user hand book.
If you suceed with this, and the oven still does not get hot, then the element has probably failed.

GE monogram double oven display getting extremely hot

Usually the knob type controls uses the bulb for temperature regulation. There is usually only one adjustment available - otherwise the thermostat has to be replaced. - that dial with the temperature graduations on it. the whole unit - the bulb in the oven is connected to it.
