I have a brand new yard broom 2 (homelite) and it fires but won't start as though the timing is off. Could this be the issue? It hits now and then but will not run.

there is no timing on a single cylinder engine. it could be old gas, try spraying new gas into air intake until it runs on it's own

It will not re-coil on a homelite II yard broom (gas)

sounds like the tension spring has broken. remove the cover on the pull rope and look inside the rope coil, the spring is located under this.

Homelite yard broom starts a clicking noise then power loss. Power may come back for short bursts and clicking ceases during these times.

Suspect the blower fan is loose on the crankshaft.
Open the housing on the fan side and check mounting nut. If this is the case, remove the nut, apply one or two drops of Loctite-Thread-Locker (in the blue package) to the crankshaft threads and reinstall the nut.
Hope this helps.

Leaf blower

One suggestion, unscrew the spark plug and reconnect the high voltage wire. In a very dark area move the plug so that the plug thread touches some metal on the engine. Pull the starter cord. If you don't see a spark, remove the two screws on the handle and see if two wires are attached to the Stop Engine Switch. Remove one wire and bend it away from metal and try to see spark when pulling the start cord. If spark occurs, the Switch is shorted and needs replacing.
