EPSON only guarantees the EPSON AC adapter for the PhotoPC 500. Other non-EPSON AC adapters are not recommended for use because they may damage the camera and possibly void the warranty.

3100z software control

I think that to use this nice camera as a "web-cam" is really a wastage!

This fine camera should take the best photos I owned, even compared with my Canon D-SLR.

3000Z and Speedotron Flash power pack

You also may have a faulty hot shoe adapter or pc cord. Check them with an ohm meter, or with an old 35 mm camera. Or just short out the hot shoe contacts with a piece of metal and see if the strobes flash.

How can I increase battery life?

Transferring images from the camera to the computer requires a lot of battery power. It is recommended to use the AC adapter when transferring pictures to conserve battery life. If not using the AC adapter, make sure your batteries are fully charged and use the highest possible serial speed when connecting the camera to the computer. After transferring your images remember to shut off the camera, otherwise the camera will remain "awake" and will continue to wear down the batteries. The LCD display also uses much battery power and should be used sparingly when trying to conserve power usage. Battery life can be improved by using AA sized lithium batteries, rechargeable AA Ni-Cad batteries, or rechargeable AA Ni-MH batteries instead of AA sized alkaline batteries.

The camera has no power. What I should I do?

ake sure the lens cover is open all the way and the storage card slot is closed. If your using a SmartMedia card verify that the cards specification is 3.3V SSFDC and not 5.0V. Check the batteries and verify they are installed correctly. When using the AC adapter, make sure it is plugged into a working outlet.
